This ambitious project will bring state-of-the-art theatre facilities and elevate the visitor experience, with construction set to begin in the new year. Sustainability at its heart: The new facility is designed to reduce the theatre’s carbon footprint by an incredible 90%! Supporting the community: It will create new jobs and expand volunteering opportunities, boosting the local economy. This is a sad day for Black British Theatre. Eclipse Theatre has shut down. Black British Theatre has been feeling the heat in recent years, especially after the pandemic. Covid was a real disaster for the theatre world. Creatives are also feeling it because to survive is getting harder. When the foundation shuts down like this, it affects more than the people who work at this particular theatre company. It affects the ecosystem. Theatre as a whole has been going through a rough time since the pandemic ended. You may have noticed ticket prices have gone up a bit. Maybe you noticed the theatre was cold during a show like a friend pointed out to me. I like the cold, so it doesn't bother me. However, she was freezing. Her theory, it could be they are turning down the heating to save cost. That was a new one for me. It never crossed my mind. Things have been tight. The Stage digital platform has had a number of stories about this. There was hope the budget would soften the blow. If the big boys and girls of theatre are struggling, imagine what the small league members are dealing with. Multiply that by 10 for Black British theatre companies and practitioners. One of the issues at the core of this struggle for the theatre space is FUNDING! Same with other creative sectors. I can't help but think about Talawa Theatre and Tiata Fahodzi at this time, and other pioneering Black British Theatre Companies? Vectorworks Online Training Course for Theatre Technicians and Lighting Designers. It is used within the Theatre industry to develop drawings for a range of different uses. If you want to create entertainment-focused drawing, modelling and rendering, this course is for you. The course is specifically tailored to the needs of users in a theatrical and live events environment, it consists of seven parts and is structured so you can create simple drawings after Part 1. The course will provide you with a foundation of skills, allowing you use the program straight away and build your knowledge. The course should take approximately 24 hours to complete, this will vary from person to person as it structured to allow you to you work at your own pace. How do you make theatre accessible to adult neurodivergent audiences? Auckland Theatre Company is at the beginning of its relaxed performance journey and its Head of Strategy, Natasha Pearce, says that asking is the only way to create a programme that meets the needs of the community. “Our hope is that our programme will continue to improve and audiences will grow. "As one of the first arts companies to develop relaxed performances for adult and late-teen audiences, we know we will get it wrong sometimes. But we hope we get it right more often and that we learn from our mistakes. “We also hope that other organisations see that if we can offer theatre of scale and ambition and include relaxed performances in our season, then they can too.” Thanks for your great mahi, ATC.
