The article covers some of his important designs - from modest economy models all the way to the most extravagant supercars - so no need to recount them here. Along with so many of his post war Italian contemporaries Gandini is responsible for the best in vehicle deign. The attention to detail, the power of concept, and the ability to create design-in-branding is something this era of Italian designers mastered, owned. Compare and contrast to the often gaudy, chintzy, cheap, and often shoddy styling (can’t dignify it as design) that came out (and still comes out) of the USA, Japan, and latterly Korea. There are exceptions of course but for the most part the best in post war automotive design is Italian, penned or influenced. Great style is a rare and precious thing. Thank god for Italian design as a beacon and sanctuary from the norm of bad taste/vulgarity that infests so much of our world today. #design #branding #style #italian
