Find Your Tribe: Supercharge Your Fundraising! 🌟 When you start fundraising for your cause, you need to find your cheerleading squad. These early investors should become tried-and-true fans of your organization's work, but finding your true fans requires a bit of practice. Here are three tips for zeroing in on those vital connections: 🌊📈 Research and List Potential Stakeholders: Start with a deep dive into the ecosystem of your industry, community, and sector. Compile a comprehensive list of individuals, companies, and organizations that align with your philanthropic cause. Don't hold back; allow for edits to come later. Initially, you need a broad list of ideas to guide you to the next steps. 🌌🔍 Prioritize Stakeholders: Now it's time to refine your list. Evaluate each potential partner based on their interest in your mission, likelihood of support, and other non-monetary ways they can contribute. It's vital that the final list includes supporters who offer financial and non-traditional forms of support, fostering a foundation for long-term engagement. ⚖️🎯 Analyze Needs and Interests: Focus not on your needs, but on the needs of your stakeholders. Great partnerships develop from aligned purposes. Understanding what motivates your partners allows you to tailor your outreach, present your mission effectively, and identify the types of support you need. This approach helps form quick connections that evolve into lasting alliances. 💬🤝 While seeking initial funding requires agility, precision in your early requests is just as crucial. By identifying key stakeholders and carefully building those relationships, you can secure long-term support, ensuring your vital work not only continues but thrives.⛵💖 #NonprofitFunding #StakeholderEngagement #NonprofitStrategy #Philanthropy #CommunityBuilding #FundraisingSuccess #MissionDriven #NonprofitLeadership #ImpactInvesting #SocialImpact #CommunityOutreach #StrategicPartnerships #DonorEngagement #CharitableGiving #Volunteerism #FundraisingTips #NonprofitNetworking #PhilanthropyLeadership #SocialEntrepreneurship #GrantWriting

I help your fundraising team build the skills, strategies and systems you need to raise more major gifts
Looking back at my fundraising career I believe I can trace my biggest wins to one key trait: I’m an entrepreneur, through and through. While our sector hasn’t always embraced the entrepreneurial fundraiser with open arms, I think having this mindset can set you apart as fundraising continues to become more creative, more challenging and more competitive. I believe we all have some entrepreneur in us – and if you can cultivate the positive attributes, and manage the more (ahem) potentially hazardous characteristics, you’ll see a huge impact on your fundraising. Great entrepreneurs are excellent problem solvers – the most successful ones can identify the biggest pain points of their customers, and offer solutions to help alleviate that pain. Could it be that great fundraisers are also in the business of helping their donors find solutions to their biggest problems? No matter what your cause, chances are you’re working towards solving a seemingly intractable problem – and when you find donors who care equally about that problem, you’ve found your fundraising sweet spot. I know, our organizations are often addressing complex issues with multiple root causes – poverty and climate change are not problems that come with simple solutions. But I guarantee you that some element of your mission and work alleviates one or more pain points for your donor. And if you haven’t figured that out yet, this is a great opportunity to tap into your inner entrepreneur, and do some detective work. How can you make it a regular practice to tap into your entrepreneurial strengths? Let me know in the comments! 🚀 Role Swap Challenge: Closer vs. Fundraiser 🚀 The scenario: We take a top-performing closer from a high-paced corporate sales environment and swap them with a dedicated fundraiser from a mission-driven nonprofit for a month. What do you think would happen? 🤔 I would especially love to hear from folks who have done this! 💼 Corporate Closer: -Used to sealing deals and hitting sales targets -Expert in negotiation and closing techniques -Driven by revenue and profit goals ❤️ Nonprofit Fundraiser: -Skilled in building donor relationships and securing donations -Master storyteller, inspiring others with the mission -Focused on community impact and mission sustainability Questions for you: What specific challenges do you think a corporate closer would face in the nonprofit environment, and how might their skills benefit the organization? How might a fundraiser's approach to building relationships and storytelling change the dynamics in a corporate sales team? What key lessons and perspectives could each professional take back to their original role after the swap? How do you think transitioning from a profit-driven mindset to a mission-driven mindset (and vice versa) would impact their approach to their work and overall job satisfaction? Real-World Examples: Have you experienced or witnessed a successful transition between these two sectors? What insights can you share? 💡 Would love to hear your thoughts #Leadership #donorengagment #RoleSwap #Nonprofit #CorporateSales #directorofdevelopment #fundraising #ProfessionalDevelopment #Hiringmanagers #SalesStratedgy

Freeing non-profit CEOs to lead humanity onwards. Founder | Philanthropy Strategist | CEO coach | Board Member | Entrepreneur | Speaker | Aspiring Surfer
I'm on a mission. 🚀 I believe philanthropy 🗝️ holds the key for non-profit CEOs to unlock their organisation's potential. But too often, it feels out of reach. It can seem elitist, like it happens in circles that you don't move in. 🔄 Maybe you think it will take too much time ⏳ or that you'd need to hire expensive fundraisers or consultants. 💸 Or maybe the idea of asking another person for money fills you with dread, and you don't want to feel like you are begging? 😣 Whatever the block is for you, I'm here to tell you that it doesn't have to be that way. From my own experience as a CEO, where philanthropy transformed my leadership and our impact 🌟, to all the CEOs who I have coached, one thing is clear: you already have everything you need to start raising money from philanthropy. You might just need a nudge in the right direction, accountability and a roadmap to get you there. 🗺️ And that's my mission. I know if I can put the tools of philanthropy into your hands, it will give you the fuel to transform your organisation. 🔥 Next week, I'll be hosting a free webinar to show you how busy non-profit CEOs like you are raising money from philanthropy without a big prospect list or feeling like they are begging. I want to show you what is possible and get you excited about the potential for your organisation again. 💡 I'll share more details on Monday. 📅

In Part 1 of our interview, Shannon Parris provides a unique perspective as someone with 10 years experience in the non-profit sector. Shannon earned her degree in psychology, believing she would become a counselor or therapist. However, upon graduation, she couldn’t pin down her ‘why’ for going back to school to fulfill this. Ultimately, she started selling her handmade jewelry and volunteering at a women’s resale boutique. This volunteering turned into a paid position over the next few years, and became the entry point into Shannon’s work at the intersection of nonprofits and entrepreneurship. Shannon shares that the most important question someone should address before starting a non-profit is, “What is the unmet need I’m uniquely qualified for?” If there’s another organization in your community that’s already fulfilling that mission, don’t compete—find a way to help them & contribute to it. We close out Part 1 by discussing some of Shannon’s challenges in her journey—the main one being self-doubt. Being an employee brings structure and security, and Shannon initially had a fear of the potential instability of relying on herself. With time, and working to conquer these thoughts with a coach, Shannon finds herself the happiest she’s ever been in her career. Stay tuned for the conclusion of this month’s spotlight! #businessowner #nonprofit #entrepreneurship
