Four things from my childhood shaped me to be highly adaptive to change and uncertainty and open to new adventures in life (aka #unstoppable me) 🛫 Changed the schools and cities where I lived six times as my father was posted to new places for government work. 🕹️ Played strategy and RPG games on the computer while playing all sorts of physical sports that were available throughout my childhood. 📚 Taught school students from 3 unique backgrounds (A 6-year-old half-Chinese student, 3 English medium students, one student on the autistic spectrum). 💙 Extensively volunteered in community building, working with underprivileged kids and adults. Do you have similar childhood experiences that still help you achieve better things in life? #personaldevelopment #startups #entrepreneurs #growth #careers

Improving literacy isn’t just about education—it’s about creating a safer, more equitable society. Studies show that early reading levels can predict future incarceration rates, but by prioritizing literacy, we can change this narrative. Even a small increase in literacy can drastically reduce reoffending rates. It’s time we take action to break the cycle of poverty and crime. #TedXTalk #TEDxSpeaker #LiteracyMatters #LiteracyImpact #EducationalGrowth #Education #EdTech #EdTechFounders #StartUps #Reading #EarlyLiteracy #TransformLives #PrisonReformThroughEducation

Schools don’t educate children, they indoctrinate them. If it was designed to educate, then it wouldn’t take 14 years to do it and it would teach valuable things like budgeting and investing. Mainstream education an old, broken system that’s training them to be an obedient workforce for factories…. to clock in and clock out on-time, to go for their dinner when the bell rings and to do is they’re told. And the issue is that so many businesses are set up IN THE SAME WAY… where you clock in and clock out on time, you have 20 minutes for a break, an hour for lunch and you sit there and do as you’re told. Then we see these young upstart Gen Zs and millennials and we label them as demanding or lazy. They’re not… they’re smart and they’ve seen behind the veil. They know the education system is broken and they feel let down by it, and in some cases, it’s even cost them a small fortune. Then they go into archaic, businesses and don’t want to be treated as an obedient workforce, forced to sit there, do as they’re told by someone not fit to do so, and wait for the bell to ring. They want to be treated as the creative, wonderful, intelligent individual they are, and they want to be given the space to shine and flourish so they can make a difference. I don’t see them as lazy or needy. I just see outdated businesses who have aligned themselves with an outdated education system. Both of which are broken. The people don’t need fixing. The education system is too big to fix. As entrepreneurs… our responsibility is to fix our businesses.

As we say goodbye to summer and the back-to-school season is upon us, many parents find themselves juggling multiple roles and responsibilities. For entrepreneur-parents, this time of year can be both a blessing and a challenge. While school provides predictability and structure, it also brings additional responsibilities like carpools, after-school activities, and— a personal nemesis—school field trips. 🏫 Start-up Nursery School Financial Model: Ideal for entrepreneurs in the education sector, this financial model covers the startup costs, revenue streams, and operational expenses of a nursery school, ensuring a clear path to profitability. #NurserySchool #EducationFinance #StartUp #BusinessModel Start Up Nursery School Financial Model presents the case of an investment in a nursery school and its operations. The model generates the three financial statements, a summary page, a break even analysis, and a valuation, along with various feasibility metrics as well as graphs. The financing options for the project include a standard long term loan, as well as an overdraft facility and of course equity funding from investors. Moving on to the Inputs, in this tab, the user needs to adjust the business drivers in the yellow cells. The revenue drivers consist of the number of pre schoolers and their characteristics, including pricing and payment patterns. The costs to support the revenue drivers of the business are split into cost of services sold and sales and general administrative expenses. Other drivers include receivables days, payable days, inventory days and income tax. Additional assumptions include: depreciation period in years (for both the initial investment and subsequent capital expenditures), debt gearing, interest on loans (term loan, overdraft), and share capital.

Prolific Athlete Mastering a New Sport Every Single Year | Successful Entrepreneur | Author & Speaker | Intrepid Adventurer | Muscular Dystrophy Advocate
In 1992, I was working at the Red Cross and expecting my second child. This was a big turning point for me. I decided to get certified to teach courses for daycare centers. But when these daycares chose cheaper options, I had to think of something else. So, I started offering CPR and first aid training to businesses, which wasn't very common back then. This new direction turned out to be a great success. My business grew quickly, and I hired seven employees in the first year. Being 32 and balancing business ownership with motherhood taught me a lot about being tough and changing plans when needed. This experience showed me that sometimes the best opportunities come from unexpected places. Have you ever received an amazing opportunity from a place you never expected? #entrepreneurship #growth #adapt
