I have been in a lot of coding groups and learned about many challenges that coders have been facing finding employment. So my question is for managers and recruiters looking for coders to join their team, what are the challenges you are seeing with fining the ideal candidate? Being a very good programmer at a senior or staff level or 10+ years of experience is detrimental to your growth. The time it takes to write a piece of code remains almost constant throughout a software engineering career. If it takes 3 days to implement something as a junior engineer, it will take almost 3 days (or even more) for a senior or staff engineer. Thus, you cannot add extra value with increasing experience and level (salaries) just coding. #softwarecareers #softwareengineering

If experience matters to doctors, then experience matters to engineers too. Coding skills do not equate to experience. That’s why coding is an entry level skill in computer science and/or software engineering. Coder != Developer != Engineer One who codes, i.e, solves a problem programmatically, become a developer when one can build something to meet a need. And one become an engineer when wisdom, experience and knowledge combine to address all problems of that which is built and it can sustain, progress, adapt and amend to needs. Leetcode shows your skill to code. Doesn’t let you showcase the other two. Not yet.

Why are software engineers paid so much? We live in an era where software is used for entertainment, medical research and everything in between. Everything nowadays has a software application, and it’s rare to come across something that doesn’t. All of this software development and maintenance requires many software engineers. The question is, do we have enough qualified software developers and programmers to handle the demand? The short answer is no. Here are some reasons that we indicated: 1️⃣ Human Resources: If it is difficult to hire software engineers in general, hiring excellent software engineers is even more difficult. The quality of a software engineer’s work is frequently linked to their coding skills and experience. 2️⃣ Supply and Demand: The fact that supply does not match demand is the primary reason for software developers earning so much. Competent developers are in high demand to help companies simplify and automate their procedures. 3️⃣ Growing change of technologies: Because technology evolves at such a rapid pace, the development landscape is always evolving. To remain relevant, developers must continually upgrade and upskill. You must also be extremely adaptive. These qualities, as well as the willingness to continue learning, are in high demand, which is one of the reasons programmers earn so much money.

While it’s true that the market is slower compared to the last few years, it’s also clear that companies are still hiring junior software developers.
