A life lesson it took me 21 years to learn... No matter what happens, run YOUR race. In every "race" of life, it's tempting to look around and compare yourself to the other racers. It's easy to measure yourself according to what they're doing, to start running against others, to start changing your strategy in real time. But in life, the only race that matters is YOUR race. Your only competitor is yourself. Always, always run your race.

Are your standards holding you back? How a runner did the impossible, and changed everyone's beliefs. In 1954 Roger Bannister did something that no other human had ever done before - he ran a mile under 4 min. Runners had be trying to break this seemingly impossible barrier since 1886, but no one could. Guess what happened after Bannister broke the 4 min mile? Runners every where started doing the same. In one race FOUR RUNNERS did it! The people we surround ourselves has a huge impact on what we believe is possible. They have an immense impact of how we view the world. If you have people around you that lifts you spirit, challenges your views, argues your beliefs and show new ways of doing things - chances are you'll change! You might even break your own "4-min mile" attempt. Whatever that might be. But remember, you must raise your standards.

70 years ago today May 6th 1954 History was made when English athlete Roger Bannister became first to run a sub-4 minute mile, recording 3:59:4 at Iffley Road Track, Oxford Roger Bannister once said, "The greatest amount of wasted time is the time not getting started." This quote encompasses the powerful message of seizing opportunities and taking decisive action. Bannister, a former British middle-distance runner and the first person to run a mile in under four minutes, understood the significance of beginning a task or pursuing a goal. He recognized that inaction or hesitation can be the biggest obstacle to achieving success. Bannister's quote serves as a reminder that the first step towards accomplishing something is often the most crucial one, and that procrastination or fear of failure only result in wasted time and missed opportunities. By embracing this mantra, individuals can find motivation to embark on their journeys, transcending their limitations, and ultimately seizing the potential that lies within themselves.
