Being recognized as one of the World’s Top 50 Family Enterprise Advisors by Family Capital Publishing is both humbling and motivational. I know many of the other award recipients and respect their character, care, and acumen. A noteable trend that I observe from the list is that the family enterprise community is naturally modernizing, evolving, and elevating building upon the expertise of great thought leadership minds to meet the current needs, aspirations, and diversity of these great, complex, and sophisticated families and individuals. My firm, Xylogenesis™ | Family Office Advisory, has only one (1) KPI that we measure ourselves at the end of each day, “how many families did we help today?” To do this work properly truly requires a 24/7/365 day mindset, commitment, and availability as these complex multigenerational families are dynamic and their opportunities and challenges rarely idle. Being in the room and facilitating conversations where “breakthroughs” occur and individuals are hugging, laughing, and crying together is a purposeful and meaningful way to spend each day, and I thank my family clients for the opportunity. I also need to thank my family who inspires me and supports my challenging schedule. Going into business with a life partner is very risky. There is a lot at stake including the personal relationship. It could either go horribly wrong or provide insane leverage. 𝗗𝗶𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗵𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲𝘀 Today, I want to share a little about our CEO and Founder, Coble Jorgensen. (She also happens to be my wife, so I might be a smidge biased here). Coble majored in Psychology at Harvard, dabbled in pre-med, interned in i-banking, real estate, neuroscience and the state department, practiced estate planning and probate litigation, volunteers as a mediator, and serves on numerous boards. She has always been an active investor and served in many fiduciary roles prior to founding Cap Six, but she NEVER worked in asset management. Personally, I think that’s a feature, not a bug…perhaps her biggest strength on our team. While Rachel Gilbert and I spent years immersed in the asset management industry eager to revolutionize it from within, we still come to Cap Six with industry-embedded perspectives. Coble, on the other hand, brings a fresh, common-sense investor viewpoint that keeps us grounded and innovative. Diversity of thought is incredibly important for any business, and it is desperately needed in asset management. Coble’s varied background gives her a unique lens through which she views our business. Her experience across multiple disciplines means she isn’t confined by traditional industry thinking. She questions the status quo and brings a fresh perspective that’s crucial for our mission to deliver outstanding results for our clients. I’m posting a pic from our wedding party in 2009.
