Exciting news! 🌿 We've reached the $100,000 milestone for our #ReforestingBaran project, thanks to the incredible support of our partners including Simfoni, Dulsco, and Planet Earth Now. The recent funding enables us to embark on Stage 2 of our journey in Baran, where we'll be: 1️⃣ Building 3 additional ponds 2️⃣ Bringing water to more than 1,000 people 3️⃣ Planting 10,000 trees This moves us closer to our 10-year vision, where together with The Flow Partnership, we aim to help more than 100,000 people, plant 350,000 trees, and regenerate over 125 sq km of degraded soil. 🌏 Are you interested in partnering with us? 🙌 Milestone Moments 🙌 As we welcome 2025, we’re reflecting on the milestones Kenai achieved over the past year. It’s the small, intentional choices we make – over and over – that create lasting, sustainable change. From large-scale reforestation to innovative on-site practices, every project has been an opportunity to strengthen our connection to the environment and our communities. 🌱 Planting thousands of native trees – helping regenerate bushland and foster thriving wildlife. 🌍 Harvesting rainwater directly on-site for reuse – reducing waste and conserving resources. 🔨 Choosing NZ-made equipment – supporting local businesses and keeping it Kiwi. 🚧 Giving 'throw-away' items new life – reusing materials to extend their lifespan and reduce waste. 🌞 Running site offices on solar power – with transportable panels that move with the project. 🙌 Growing our team – and ensuring every new member is trained in Kenai’s ESG principles. 💪 Collaborating with communities and iwi – respecting and protecting culturally significant sites. 📈 Partnering with local councils – contributing to infrastructure that benefits generations to come. Here’s to another year of meaningful progress and building better futures – one project at a time. 🌿

Some deals don't make it into the front page of trade news, but are nevertheless meaningful. The acquisition of family-owned Calabrian ECOSISTEM SRL Group by Private equity-owned Parisian SUEZ is one of these examples. Why? Because, recognizing early on the challenges for a successful combination, it is carefully and deliberately mixing the right ingredients for success: ✅ Human continuity: It starts with a personal relationship built over years between leaders, speaking the same industry language, adressing the same painpoints, sharing the same attention to people, to operational excellence and to customers. The very same people carried the combination through and will stay on; ✅ True mutual respect expressing the complementarities and synergies. Instead of a large corporate looking down on a local family-owned business, here it is about one company bringing scale, scope & technology that is shaking hands with another bringing customer intimacy, market insights & high performing industrial assets; ✅ Transmission & ownership: the combination happened because the owners trust SUEZ to preserve the industrial focus, the customer service & the care for the community. In today’s world we often witness two parallel ecosystems operating side by side one constructive, promoting sustainability and innovation and the other destructive, exploiting resources and undermining long-term well-being. What makes this more complex is that both ecosystems are often driven by the same group of actors whose actions are motivated by short-term profits. While they may champion eco-friendly initiatives to cater to conscious consumers, these efforts are frequently overshadowed by practices that degrade the environment and exploit communities. The challenge lies in shifting from this profit-centric mindset to a more holistic approach where both people and the planet can thrive together, aligning economic success with the greater good. GNFZ is proud to support Smart Village Movement (SVM) and its journey toward net zero. Through local and international partnerships, SVM helps communities in rural areas around the world use innovative solutions to improve their resilience and standard of living by building on local strengths and opportunities. Their sustainable cottage, EcoNest, is pursuing GNFZ's net zero certification and was awarded a milestone certificate at our September roundtable. EcoNest represents a fusion of technology, entrepreneurship, and natural resources, and demonstrates the responsible use of local renewable materials and skills, establishing a model for sustainable tourism infrastructure.
