The sudden demise of iconic industrialist and former chairman of Tata Group, Ratan Tata has flooded social media platforms with posts by Indian tech leaders. Ola CEO Bhavish Aggarwal, People Group CEO Anupam Mittal, Paytm founder and CEO Vijay Shekhar Sharma, former CEO of Xioami Manu Kumar Jain, former BharatPe CEO Ashneer Grover, and many others have offered their deepest condolences on social media, especially, on X (formerly Tweeter). However, Bhavish Aggarwal got trolled immediately after he shared his tribute on social media. In the long post on the morning of 10th October, Aggarwal shared a collage of photos with Tata and wrote how the iconic leader impacted in his entrepreneurial journey. Captioning his post, “Ratan Tata, my personal hero”, the Ola Founder elaborated on how the former chairman of Tata Group inspired him to get started as an entrepreneur. The Ola CEO also mentioned that almost every product his team conceptualized and designed (some of which are not yet released) he shared with Tata who would patiently sit with him and give feedback. He also shared how Ratan Tata’s love for animals also grew on him. From when he was a student at IIT, Mumbai the visionary leader has been a source of inspiration for him. However, netizens have remarked that if he had indeed drawn inspiration from such an incredibly remarkable personality, why has he learned nothing from him in the aspects of “behavior or business”? An X user remarked: “That’s really nice that you consider him as a hero. Please also follow ethics, values, how not be arrogant in business and focus on providing highest customer satisfaction from his legacy. If you do, I’m sure you will scale higher.” Someone else commented: “That’s a really long message. Just one small question. When are you going to learn integrity and making quality product from him?” Another user said: “personal hero hain to refund karde apne kachra scooters ka” #Startuppedia #startup #ola #olaceo #ratantata #ratantatasir

Sri Ratan Tata, one of India's most iconic business leaders, has made a lasting impact on both large corporations and the startup ecosystem. His visionary leadership transformed the Tata Group into a global powerhouse through significant acquisitions such as Jaguar Land Rover, Corus Steel, and Tetley Tea, expanding the company’s reach across continents. Beyond corporate expansion, his investments in startups like Ola, Paytm, and FirstCry have catalyzed the growth of India's dynamic entrepreneurial landscape, positioning him as a key enabler of the nation's digital revolution. Widely admired for his humility, deep sense of ethics, and passion for innovation, Ratan Tata's influence transcends business. His commitment to corporate social responsibility and philanthropy, through initiatives like Tata Trusts, has significantly uplifted communities in areas such as education, healthcare, and rural development. He is a champion of sustainable growth, constantly advocating for responsible business practices that benefit not only shareholders but also society at large. Even in his personal life, Ratan Tata is known for his modesty, often choosing to lead by example rather than position. His quiet dignity and personal kindness have made him a revered figure, not just in India but globally. As a beacon of integrity in a world often driven by profits, his contributions to industry, society, and philanthropy leave behind a legacy of immense inspiration and leadership. Ratan Naval Tata : A leader who inspired generations You know, when we talk about legends in the business world, Ratan Tata is one name that stands out, not just for his incredible success but for his humility and values. He didn’t just lead one of the biggest companies in India; he redefined what it means to be a leader. Ratan Tata took over the Tata Group in the early '90s, and under his watch, it became a global name. Whether it was the bold move to acquire companies like Jaguar Land Rover or making Tata Steel one of the world’s leading steel producers, his decisions always seemed to have one thing in common: a long-term vision that benefited not just his company, but also the people around him. And honestly, that’s rare. But what really sets him apart for me is his compassion. This is a guy who refused to lay off employees even when the chips were down. He genuinely cares about the people who work for him. And let’s not forget the incredible work done by the Tata Trusts—whether it’s education, healthcare, or rural development, they’ve been helping millions for years. During tough times, like the COVID-19 crisis, Ratan Tata and his company were among the first to step up and help. What makes Ratan Tata even more admirable is his simplicity. Despite all his achievements, he remains grounded, never seeking the limelight. Even after retiring as Chairman, he’s still out there, investing in startups, mentoring young entrepreneurs, and pushing for innovation. He’s not just a business leader; he’s a role model for anyone who wants to make a positive impact in the world. Ratan Tata is proof that you can lead with kindness, make tough decisions with empathy, and still come out on top. His legacy isn’t just the Tata Group or the companies he built—it’s the countless lives he’s touched, the young minds he’s inspired, and the better world he’s helped create. Thank you, Mr. Tata, for showing the world leadership is about service, not power. Your legacy will continue to inspire generations to come." by Annair Drychill Tech India Private Limited reach us sales@annair.com - 8080616660 #ratantata, #tribute, #Tatasons, #tatanano,#annair

#PatientLeadership How to be aggressive and patient at the same time? A recent conversation on the nature of leadership and what kind do we need currently to foster #innovation and stay #future-ready, reminded me of this exchange with Shinjini Kumar and Naushad Forbes at the Tata Lit Live! If #businesses & #policy need to encourage constant innovation and focus on #regional nuances, and everyone in principle agrees that this is needed, then wherein lies the #gap? Why is this so hard to do? The answer lies somewhere in leadership #mentalmodels: There is a need to #inculcate + #value patient leadership alongside the drive for results. While we all run the race and care about big #wins, we also need patience to be willing to go granular, listen better, invest for the long term and take the big #swings too. And go beyond the next term or the next quarter... That, to my mind, is patient leadership. Here is an excerpt from our session on #smartincubation at the Tata Lit Live! which sparked off a very interesting and timely discussion about how the big business houses of India today were #startups at one time and their #longevity has been a function of thinking long term, and building to last. In the audience was Nadir Godrej, and several Tata Group veterans who have lived this philosophy. Find the full session here : https://lnkd.in/gigJ2_VT , where @Naushad Forbes spoke eloquently from deep experience about innovation and why countries like India must invest in R&D and I shared about #patientcapital, investing in data and the regional economy - expertly moderated by Shinjini Kumar as only she can. This concept of patient leadership can #help us reflect & review our style and those around us. What do you think - does this resonate? what kind of leadership #inspires you/ what kind do you aspire to be? #PatientLeadership #SmartIncubation #RegionalInnovation #Entrepreneurship TAS Official Tata Trusts Confederation of Indian Industry Thank you! *Strategic Direction* I have started my career with Tata Group and on the 1st day of joining, We were welcomed at Bombay House for the whole day interaction with Top management and it was followed by a structured Induction program named "FIRST" which happened for 30 days to imbibe the DNA of the group into us and to also provide a comprehensive understanding of core philosophy, system, processes, businesses and strategic direction/vision of the group. While working with the Tata group I have never thought that the group may plan anytime to acquire Air India and Big Basket as it was never part of the groups strategic vision but later on as the business environment progressed in a tech savvy/digital era, hence these strategic decisions were taken and it will bring a major contribution to the group in future. This reminds me of a famous quote from Peter Drucker- "The relevant question is not simply what shall we do tomorrow, but rather what shall we do today in order to get ready for tomorrow?" This question becomes more important for Start-ups because in Startups even the senior team is engaged in day to day business operations leaving lesser room for preparing for future. Are you future ready? Would love to hear your valuable insights/views.
