✅ Our research on the school-to-work transition (S2W) of university and TVET graduates in Mozambique was featured as part of a UNU-WIDER - United Nations University World Institute for Development Economics Research campaign leading to the UN Day, celebrated every year on 24 October. 🎓Providing the growing number of young people striving to enter the local labour markets in Sub-Saharan Africa with education and training that respond to the needs of the local labour market is among the key development questions that the policymakers of today need to solve to ensure a better future for the generations to come. 🎯 The Inclusive Growth in Mozambique (IGM) programme responds to this need by producing much-needed data and analysis on the dynamics between education and labour market outcomes among university and TVET graduates in #Mozambique. This is critical for evidence-based policymaking. Check the reports here: S2W Higher education: https://bit.ly/49QStL8 S2W TVET: https://bit.ly/4eyIlJn We have just kicked off a follow-up survey on the university and TVET graduates - stay tuned for more! #SDG8 #S2W
Through new data and research, we help design evidence based policies addressing key development questions of our time. A VISION FOR A YOUTHFUL ZAMBIA 🇿🇲 I dream of a Zambia where young people are independent, self-reliant, God-fearing, and committed to inspiring others to excel in all they do. A Zambia where the youth prioritize economic development, engage with policies that shape their future, and focus on meaningful contributions rather than fleeting trends or trivial pursuits. Imagine a generation that researches the strategies of nations excelling on the global stage—uncovering what drives their success—and applies those lessons to elevate Zambia. As a proud youth of Chingola, the heart of Zambia’s copper wealth, I am burdened by the reality that many young people remain disconnected from the knowledge and skills needed to harness our natural resources responsibly and legally. This must change. I pray that God continues to raise a generation of radical, God-fearing youth who will dominate in various spheres of influence and bring about transformation. Together, we can build a stronger, more prosperous Zambia.

IRARA Nigeria was pleased to meet with the EU delegation to Nigeria and the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to showcase its return and reintegration projects across the region. During the meeting, IRARA Nigeria's Country Director, Roland Nwoha, provided an overview of the organisation’s global operations, with a particular focus on the Nigerian office. He highlighted IRARA’s use of field data analysis to guide and improve the implementation of its projects, ensuring a more evidence-based approach to reintegration. Fruitful discussions were held on key challenges to reintegration in the region, such as inadequate referral systems for shelter and infrastructure issues impacting businesses. As a result, capacity-building initiatives have been planned to strengthen collaboration between all parties involved. IRARA remains committed to innovating through the use of data to ensure successful and sustainable reintegration for returnees in Nigeria. #sustainablereintegration #positivefutures #migration

Industrialization in Zambia is not just a dream—it is a tangible possibility. However, the greatest challenge lies in our mindset, particularly the belief that we cannot progress without reliance on the Western world. Zambia must shift its focus and start taking itself seriously, positioning itself as the solution to its own challenges rather than constantly seeking foreign aid. This aid often serves only the interests of a few individuals who seek it, rather than addressing the continent's collective needs. Zambia is brimming with untapped potential and raw talent waiting to be discovered. What is urgently required is the establishment of robust systems that prioritize research, innovation, and development. Attending prestigious meetings and conferences alone will not yield the desired results. Until private stakeholders and governments alike create environments for fair competition, investment, and collaboration, we risk fostering a generation of Zambians who are set on a path of self-destruction.

The majority of young people in Africa live on less than USD 2.00 per day, and youth unemployment is high, as is youth underemployment. During a recent Malabo Montpellier Forum in #Uganda, representatives from African governments, the private sector, NGOs, and academia came together to discuss a key question: How can Africa's agrifood systems offer opportunities to youth? Dr. Emma Naluyima shared her perspective, emphasizing the importance of making agriculture appealing to young people ➡️ https://lnkd.in/ewp6NPqk MAAIF Uganda Read the report here: https://shorturl.at/mQiPN

Today, more than ever, our nation faces challenges but also immense opportunities. As a proud son of this land, I firmly believe that our diversity is our greatest strength. Every region, every village, every young man and woman holds incredible potential. My commitment is simple: to work for a Ghana where everyone has a fair chance to succeed. Prioritizing education, because an educated mind is a weapon against poverty. Supporting local entrepreneurs, the true engine of our economy. Building sustainable infrastructure—modern roads, hospitals, and schools for all. Fighting corruption, because transparency must be more than a buzzword—it must be our reality. I invite you to join me on this mission. Your voice matters. Your contribution, no matter how small, can help transform our nation. Share your ideas in the comments: What changes do you want to see in Ghana ? Together, we will build a country where future generations will be proud to live. The time for action is now ! #ghana #angola #politicsafrican #mondialisation #odd
