A disabled man considered walking and this was taken care of by robotics. A man paralyzed from the shoulders down due to a spinal cord injury was able to walk again using a brain-controlled exoskeleton. The exoskeleton, a pioneering four-limb robotic system, was controlled by the patient's brain signals, which were read by two recording devices implanted on each side of his head. These devices, placed between the brain and the skin, read his sensorimotor cortex, which controls motor function. The brain signals were then transmitted by decoders and translated by an algorithm into the movements the patient had thought about. This breakthrough trial, conducted by a team of experts from Grenoble Alpes hospital, the biomedical company Clinatech, and the CEA research center, demonstrated the potential of brain-controlled exoskeletons in providing hope and new possibilities for individuals with limited mobility. 🤖✨ A few days ago, I had the chance to attend "AI Meets Robotics: Promise and Practice," hosted by The Israeli Robotics Association lead by Prof. Zvi Shiller and Synergy7. As a PhD candidate in computer science, I'm really into seeing how new developments are shaping our field. The event featured a range of innovative 𝐈𝐬𝐫𝐚𝐞𝐥𝐢 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐩𝐬 demonstrating how AI is being integrated across various sectors. Important regulations and ethical considerations were also highlighted as AI continues to advance. Here's a brief overview of some groundbreaking work presented: ✨ 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐟. 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐢 𝐒𝐡𝐚𝐥𝐞𝐯 𝐂𝐨-𝐟𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫, 𝐌𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐞 𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 & 𝐂𝐓𝐎, 𝐌𝐨𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐲𝐞 presented a robot where every component is AI-based, emphasizing the need for future AI development to focus on levels of abstraction for greater safety and technological maturity. ✨𝐃𝐯𝐢𝐫 𝐂𝐨𝐡𝐞𝐧, 𝐂𝐄𝐎, 𝐌𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐬, introduced a revolutionary surgical robot noted for its unique flexibility. This robot can perform advanced, minimally invasive procedures through the body's natural openings, setting a new standard in robotic surgery. ✨ Carlos Benaim , 𝐂𝐄𝐎, 𝐃𝐞𝐞𝐩 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐑𝐨𝐛𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐬 (𝐃𝐋𝐑), introduced a vision-based robotic controller arm that utilizes machine learning to enable robots to learn tasks by observing humans (𝐙𝐞𝐫𝐨-𝐭𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠). ✨ 𝐃𝐫. 𝐎𝐫 𝐓𝐳𝐥𝐢𝐥, 𝐄𝐥𝐛𝐢𝐭 𝐒𝐲𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐬 presented an advanced infrastructure designed for navigating unknown terrains, highlighting the new challenges this poses compared to traditional city road navigation. ✨ 𝐄𝐫𝐚𝐧 𝐑𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐠, 𝐍𝐕𝐈𝐃𝐈𝐀 discussed the NVIDIA Isaac™ platform, emphasizing its "Sim2Real" technology that bridges simulation and real-world robotics applications. He also mentioned the 𝐆𝐑𝐎𝐎𝐓 project, an initiative focused on enhancing robotic intelligence and predictive capabilities. ✨ Wrapping up the event, Dr. Roy Yozevitch, who moderated the panel, posed a key question: "How close are we to achieving (AGI)?" The response was largely optimistic, believing AGI could be realized within our lifetimes. I'm excited for more events like this to keep learning and diving deeper into what’s next! #Robotics #AI #AGI #Innovation #FutureOfAI #IsraeliRobotics

The healthcare sector is experiencing significant technological advancements, as seen with the introduction of AI-powered companion robots like 'Abi' at Benetas St George’s facility in Melbourne. Developed by Andromeda Robotics, Abi uses AI to recognize residents, remember past interactions, and communicate in multiple languages, providing a new level of personalized care. This trial will help determine the impact of such technology on social and emotional well-being in aged care. Looking ahead, AI and robotics hold substantial potential in healthcare, from predictive diagnostics to robotic surgery assistants. These technologies aim to make care more personalized and efficient. However, their successful integration will require careful implementation, continuous evaluation, and a balance between technological innovation and the essential human touch in care. The evolution of healthcare technology is poised to bring about notable changes. https://lnkd.in/gjGzfZyy #HealthcareInnovation #AIinHealthcare #Robotics #AgedCare #FutureOfHealthcare #HealthTech #ArtificialIntelligence
