Navi Mumbai's Unauthorized Constructions Set for Regularization! The Urban Development Department has just issued a GR dated 23rd September 2024, addressing the regularization of constructions made by project-affected persons (PAPs) in Navi Mumbai, which were built out of necessity. For years, unauthorized constructions around villages in Navi Mumbai have been a growing concern due to delayed land acquisitions. These constructions, often driven by natural family growth and livelihood needs, are now being considered for formal recognition. In response to legal hurdles and community opposition, the government has now approved the regularization of such constructions on certain terms, benefitting both PAPs and non-PAPs alike. Here are some key highlights of this major development: - 95 villages in Navi Mumbai will undergo a CIDCO-led survey, including satellite imagery dating back to the 1970s. - Lease agreements of up to 60 years will be provided for eligible constructions. - The cluster development scheme remains an option for those looking to redevelop the regularized areas. - Vacant plots within the 12.5% scheme will be allotted and sold based on new GR guidelines.
