Uncertainly looms in light of the upcoming 2024 election... and its clouding the supply chain outlook. As such, manufacturers are delaying capital investment decisions. Michigan State's Jason Miller noted, "Companies are unsure of the policy landscape they'll face in 2025," during a panel discussion hosted by Industry Dive. Timothy Fiore, chair of the manufacturing business committee at the Institute for Supply Management, added, "Election outcomes could shift focus from oil and gas to green energy investments." As manufacturers tighten belts amid tepid demand and high interest rates, significant production increases are unlikely in the year's second half. LD Carbon has closed a $28M Series C funding round to scale the production of sustainable carbon black and pyrolysis oil. The developer is said to be building Asia's largest tire pyrolysis plant in Dangjin City, South Korea, with an annual capacity to process 50,000 tons of end-of-life tires, producing 23,000 tons of TPO, 20,000 tons of rCB, and 7,000 tons of other valuable materials. Prashant Bothra, Woven Capital principal, emphasized, “LD Carbon is addressing a critical challenge in the automotive supply chain, scaling proven technology to create high-performance recovered carbon black, offering substantial value compared to virgin materials." Tire pyrolysis has been a subject for many years, with few able to actually build large commercial plants due to financing limitations, pyrolysis oil upgrading requirements or permitting reasons. At GECA, we have worked on tire pyrolysis for several years and have been seeing an increase in project development across the works. #Sustainability #AutomotiveIndustry #CircularEconomy #CarbonBlack #Pyrolysis LD Carbon Closes $28M Investment to Scale Production of Sustainable Carbon Black and Pyrolysis Oil (https://zurl.co/wEfe)
