Strategy, Creative & Partnerships for Immersive Experiences & Transformative Events | Former Burning Man Head of Technology | Consultant | Speaker | Open to New Projects & Positions
Immerse LDN is becoming a key player in London’s immersive entertainment scene. 🚇 Located at ExCeL London, it’s newly connected via the Elizabeth line and able to leverage long established hospitality and infrastructure. Damian Norman, Director of Immersive Entertainment Events at ExCeL, points out what many of us in the industry have known for quite a while - that the term "immersive" has become a buzzword more than a guarantee. We’ve all seen experiences that don’t hit the mark, leaving some skeptical about the whole industry - but I'm convinced that we're only just getting started on the fun. Sure, the Wonka Experience in Glasgow was an example of where things can go wrong, but there are plenty of experiences that go right. What stands out about Immerse LDN is their commitment to quality. With experiences like The Friends Experience and Formula 1 already on their roster, along with past hits like Jurassic World and Disney 100, they're demonstrating a smart strategy—choosing well-researched and high-quality productions. It’s also worth keeping an eye on how they might balance emerging talent with these big-name productions. Just like indy films need to be screened at festivals, so to must emergent experience producers have a place to experiment and create. I’m heading to Immerse LDN next April while in London for the World Experience Summit from April 29 to May 1, 2025. I hope to catch the Elvis Evolution experience too—might even bring my 78-year-old stepmother along for a nostalgia trip. As immersive entertainment continues to grow, how can venue partners ensure they're vetting experiences for quality while also giving space for emerging creators? What strategies have you seen work to balance big-name productions with up-and-coming talent? https://lnkd.in/gq2cYqx3 #ImmerseLDN #ImmersiveExperiences #EntertainmentInnovation #WorldExperienceSummit #ExCeLLondon #ElvisEvolution #F1 #Formula1 #Formula1Experience #JurassicWorld #FriendsExperience #LondonAttractions #ImmersiveEntertainment #ExperienceCreators #CollaborativeFuture #EntertainmentDistrict

I live near Orlando, and an interesting trend is moving away from 3D projections in theme park rides to 2D. In some cases, existing 3D attractions are being converted to 2D. Why has the general public been so unreceptive to 3D? 3D movies aren't really a thing anymore, nor are 3D TV's - even though they had gotten pretty good. VR is still failing to attract a mainstream audience, despite the availability of quality, inexpensive headsets. Meta seems to be talking about VR less now as well, after betting the farm on it not long ago. https://lnkd.in/eNjPU-sU

Chief Creative Officer at JAR Audio: specializing in audio storytelling, brand storytelling, creative story development, achieving "lift-off" on new projects, and having fun in the process.
This is all the things a brand collaboration should be: creative, immersive, and geared towards giving real value (in this case playful fun!) to an audience.
Very excited about this news! Who remembers the childhood toy, Lite Brite? Our friends at Illuminarium Experiences in the Distillery District are about to launch their new immersive & interactive show, Lite Brite. A Secret Location and Hasbro collab. Spoiler: it's absolutely phenomenal. It launches May 8. Teaser here. Having seen it in development behind the scenes, it's the most exploratory and interactive experience they've made to date. Your kids will go crazy (we've tested). Get this on your radar to check out, and DM if you have any Q's about how this was made, or thinking about building an immersive brand experience like this. #litebrite #immersive #immsersiveexperiences #experiential #illuminarium #brandexperiences #projections #interactiveexperiences #entertainment

January’s Next Stage Immersive Summit promises to unite all the creators, dreamers, and secret society members who think life would be better with a few more hidden rooms and mysterious characters lurking in the shadows. the Pasadena Playhouse will become ground zero for artists, creators, and self-proclaimed “experience architects” to gather and brainstorm onhow to transform everyday spaces into portals to other worlds, where grocery shopping might involve sword fights or parking garages could double as enchanted forests. Hosted by the The Immersive Experience Institute, this summit aims to ensure that no moment of your life is ever again lacking in drama, fog machines, or overly enthusiastic actors. https://lnkd.in/gftufxXw

At a rent of £500 per square meter (US$65 PSF) not sure how this makes any economic sense (for anyone other than the landlord.) These immersive entertainment locations are all destination attractions. Paying high rent in an attempt to convert the "4MM people already going to EXCEL" is a fool's errand. Landlords only care about one thing: their return on investment. They only care if you can pay the rent, not if you earn a profit. We saw this with Westfield. Don't be the greater fool. Rent a warehouse and invest in marketing.
