Keep your foundation sturdy by regularly checking for signs of distress like unevenness or fissures. Don't delay repairs – even minor cracks can snowball into major headaches. It's also good to monitor drainage around your foundation and ensure water slopes away, preventing the buildup of hydrostatic pressure that can push and crack your home's bedrock. A vigilant eye and prompt action are your best allies in maintaining a strong, stable foundation.⠀ ⠀ Need help managing your property? 📱 541-581-0406 Serving the Willamette Valley. #cascadianproperties #smallbusinessowner #locallyownedandoperated #veteranowned #usmc #usnavy #propertyinvestment #propertymanagement #growyourwealth #managinginvestments

In pausing today to remember the 108th anniversary of the Battle of Fromelles, you could choose to remember any one of the 5,533 Australian or 1,547 British casualties killed on that night. The Battle of Fromelles remains the most tragic episode in Australian military history. At 6.00pm on 19 July 1916 the troops of the 5th Australian Division Australians, alongside the 61st British Division, attacked the German positions near the villages of Fromelles and Auber in northern France, and were completely outmatched. The seven-hour preliminary artillery fire had failed to destroy German positions due to the advanced nature of their defences. Despite terrific losses, some units did reach their objectives and occupied German trenches. However, the gains were not sufficiently widespread to be held and throughout the night the Germans staged several counterattacks. With the impending dawn, young leaders were faced with the terrible dilemma of having to prepare their soldiers to fight their way back out of the German trenches to the British line and put their soldiers’ lives at risk once more in giving up the ground that they had fought so hard and suffered so many casualties to capture. Many managed to withdraw under the cover of darkness but still more were cut off, killed or wounded trying to escape as dawn broke. For three days and nights men risked their lives to go out and rescue the wounded. Many died in no-man’s land. No-one accepted responsibility for the fiasco, and no-one was ever held to account. Official histories and communiques essentially covered up the scale of the failure. The Australians were untrained for such a complex battle, and the combat power employed was not sufficient to guarantee victory. Companies and battalions captured German trenches but then kept going rather than consolidate positions allowing for German counter-attacks. The artillery batteries used were not well trained or experienced and misdirected artillery caused many friendly fire casualties. Additionally, the artillery’s inexperience meant that they couldn’t put together the fire support needed to protect the infantry whose own inexperience had put them in vulnerable positions during the consolidation. The divisional and corps staff were not experienced enough to overcome difficulties during the battle; however, the key failure was one of planning. The piece-meal planning and disregard for actual and potential problems were the cause of this terrible disaster. In the early 20th century, Fromelles came into the public consciousness, thanks in large part to Australian school teacher Lambis Englezos. Thanks to him a mass grave containing the bodies of hundreds of Australian and British troops was discovered and after much work the bodies reburied with dignity in the new Pheasant Wood Cemetery nearby. Rest in Peace men.

#Veteran #Unemployment #Rate was #2.9% in #May In May 2024, the veteran unemployment rate was 2.9%, down from 3.2% the previous month and up from 2.6% the prior year. Also in May 2024, the comparable non-veteran unemployment rate was 3.9%, up from 3.8% the previous month and up from 3.6% the prior year. It can be argued that the statistics are positive and indicate a decrease in relation to the civilian population. Thats true. However, do not forget that only 1.2% of the population are in the service or are veterans. The unemployment numbers applying to the veteran community are significantly high compared to the civilian ratio taking the consideration the percentage that serves or served. #military #vetrans #army #usmc #navy #employment #life #family #finance

𝗗𝗛𝗔 𝗮𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗻𝘀𝘃𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝘀 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 With Townsville's military capabilities on the rise, including the transformation of our 3rd Brigade, Defence Housing Australia have recently announced the 𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝘀 𝗩𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗲 𝗟𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝟱𝟬𝟬 𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗻𝗱-𝗻𝗲𝘄, 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵-𝗾𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝗵𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗧𝗼𝘄𝗻𝘀𝘃𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗲, a significant step forward for our community. We warmly welcome this initiative, as this initial 500 new homes is a huge step in the right direction, but we need to remain focused on securing a number of housing projects that will work to resolve our housing shortage. The projected shortfall of 4,220 dwellings over the next five years underscores the urgency of securing additional housing projects, emphasizing the need for our continued advocacy and our urge for support from the Queensland Government.
