I saw the review on this. I have to say that from what is described, there is no screen door effect and for a minimum $3500 dollar price tag there better not be. This device also uses foveated rendering in conjunction with eye tracking to sharpen up just the areas that you're focused on. The Playstation VR 2 uses something similar. Apple generally builds for a certain audience who are willing to pay such a high price tag. I think what is surprising to me is how many are willing to do it. We have to think about this number for a minute. $3500 is a down payment on someones first car, a replacement of kitchen appliances with change left over or just that more that someone has in savings for a rainy day. I'm a bit concerned that folks are wearing these outdoors. What most of us wear on our entire bodies from day do day doesn't equal out to be $3500. Not even close. An opportunistic robber would love to grab this and run and from what it can see, taking it off if you're just using that single strap would be as easy as pulling a beanie off a kids head. Now I know what you're thinking. Why give a thief ideas? I'm pretty sure that if you're a thief, you already thought of that. I also would think that a "find my" feature is already built in on this thing. About five years ago my house was burgled while I was at work. They took TV's and game systems. They left the Apple products sitting right where they were though. I do have to thank Apple. The features they've added to this will motivate Meta to make continuous and unrelenting changes to their Quest 3 just so they can say, "yeah we can do that too and it didn't cost our customers $3500 bucks to have it." I'll also say from reading the reviews though that I clearly understand that this headset is not even in the closest realm to the Meta Quest 3 and I'd be interested to see what they can do with fully immersed VR gaming with no screen door effect. But I have to advise one more thing. There's always a first generation to something. If you want to spend the $3500, wait a year or two. Let Apple go back in and make some improvements. Now Apple, while I don't have that $3500 bucks, you're more than welcome to send me a free one. 😂

Apple Vision Pro is all over the news these days, with people talking about it as a technical marvel – and don't get me wrong, it is. If I had had $4K laying around, I would have been one of those early testers, believe me. But nobody has showcased its features for accessibility. Now, taking into account all the fascinating things Vision Pro can do, 90% of real users won't have much of use for the Vision Pro being advertised, but James Rath totally changed that view for me. “The first thing I noticed when the headset was capturing things in the real world, I could see things…now I’m actually able to see things around me and identify them. And as I’m beginning to look around in this headset I’m beginning understanding the concept of depth perception for the first time.” - after hearing this in the video from the person who is experiencing the problem first hand, and the work that was put into the accessibility features of the Apple Vison Pro right from the beginning. James also showed that you can change the input from original eyes + fingers combo to different combinations too for people who might have the involuntary eye movements like nystagmus. Every designer should think about Accessibility features from early foundation of any project.

Demoed and brought the Vision Pro home last night! My first impressions - Above my expectations: -Display quality and resolution - id rather watch a movie here than a OLED TV -Hand tracking and Eye tracking together -Navigation is pure fun -Build quality / materials -Unboxing experience What was below? -fit on face was a bit uncomfy -guest mode not too useable -perceived fov a bit tunneled -pass through color range a bit off -sometimes eyes move faster than hands so you select incorrectly -not enough apps to do work (i.e. dropbox, 3rd party browsers, etc) I have probably done hundreds of XR demos, and Apple still found a way to blow me away. That said, I don’t personally use any of these daily other than Meta’s RayBan. I believe Vision Pro will break through too, but still early to tell for sure. UPDATE: tethering to macbook pro is incredible, need more windows though! #visionpro #apple #technology
