Hi everyone👋 I'm looking for a job, and it seems that the market is really weird right now. 🤔 --- Story time 🚬 During covid and pre-covid, the interview process for third country developers was realistic. If you could do the job & prove it by passing the test period you are good to stay as long as needed to finish the project. 🙏 Last month 1211 candidates shared feedback after completing Equalture's games. Key insights (the positives & of course also the 'negatives'): 👉 Most comments are from candidates in Logistics, Manufacturing, Customer Service & Finance. 👉 32.6% of the comments mentioned words like "fun," "enjoy," or similar terms, indicating that many candidates found the game-based assessments enjoyable. 👉 Comments mentioning words like "game," "unique," or "experience" appear 382 times, making up about 31.6% of the total feedback. 👉 Not all feedback was positive; we received 44 negative comments, making up 3.6% of total feedback. Most focused on wanting a clearer understanding of how games assess job fit, suggesting that the game-based format is still new to some candidates.

Those little social tickles feel pretty good huh? I am excited to be working out in the open and on even more open-source stuff, sharing what I'm doing as I go. Are you aware of a website that lists (almost) all the studios in your city? Yeah, some kind of Maps for Gaming companies. There are also info about every listed firm (games, size, HQ, fundings). Here you go: https://lnkd.in/dskNHn5b Here's how I would use it: 1. Create an excel with all the companies in your city/cities you would like to relocate to 2. Check the career pages for open roles 3. Apply when possible or connect with recruiters/hiring managers It’s an uncommon way to identify companies and opportunities, but I’d give it a shot. The more, the better.

Things are not great in games media at the moment. "Games media is in many respects a pretty shitty job, at least these days. It tends to be underpaid, full of abuse, exploits young writers and subjects most to the soul-crushing drudgery of posting SEO and algorithm-friendly garbage. Yet writers persist, if not for the love of writing then for the love of the medium and the hopes that someone out there appreciates what they've written. And those are the challenges facing a stable job!" "Throw in the uncertainty and anxiety over your position at a more perilous site--or even entire network--and you can see how much of a knife's edge the entire medium of professional, written games coverage is. It's no wonder there's a pipeline of writers fleeing to games development; the latter might be an industry on fire, but when your own is already engulfed in flames, why not?"
