🚜🔧 National Forklift Safety Day🔧🚜 Observed on the second Tuesday in June each year, today we mark National Forklift Safety Day — June 11th this year. This important initiative by the Industrial Truck Association reminds us of the critical need for forklift safety in the workplace. Did you know that between 35,000 and 62,000 injuries every year involve forklifts? Many of these incidents affect bystanders or pedestrians. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) estimates that over 70% of these accidents were preventable. On National Forklift Safety Day, we emphasize the safety of everyone who manufactures, operates, and works around forklifts. This is a key opportunity to highlight the importance of operator training and pedestrian awareness. Stakeholders and industry experts come together to share resources and best safety practices for using this indispensable equipment. Our work with computer vision technology is paving the way for safer work environments by providing real-time hazard detection and enhancing overall operational safety. By integrating advanced tech solutions, we can significantly reduce accidents and create a safer workplace for all. One of the key focuses at our organization is SAFETY! Ensuring forklift safety is essential for preventing accidents and maintaining a secure working environment. During orientations, I always emphasize the importance of everyone going home safely to their families at the end of the day. Here are the top five forklift safety tips we share with all our new hires: - Conduct Pre-Operation Inspections: Always inspect the forklift before use to check for damage, leaks, tire conditions, and proper functioning of controls and safety devices. - Proper Training and Certification: Only trained and certified operators should operate forklifts, with comprehensive training on safe procedures, load handling, and emergency protocols. - Maintain Clear Visibility: Ensure a clear view of your path, drive in reverse if obstructed, use mirrors or cameras, and ensure good lighting in the work area. - Adhere to Load Capacity Limits: Never exceed the forklift's load capacity to avoid tipping or loss of control. - Follow Safe Operating Procedures: Drive at safe speeds, use the horn, keep a distance from others, wear a seatbelt, and lower forks when not in use. By following these safety tips, we can significantly reduce workplace accidents and injuries. #SafetyFirst #WorkplaceSafety #ForkliftSafety
