Volunteering should not be all about what you can get in return but what you can give. You are not volunteering for your selfish interest but for social impact. Social impact should be the main purpose for volunteering. In giving, you are sacrificing your time, resources and talents for the cause of humanity. It should be an advantage to others, organizations and the community at large. Don't loose your focus. A solid piece of advice? Raise your hand. I’m not only talking practically, though I do encourage speaking up and sharing your perspective. Since April is #NationalVolunteerMonth, I’d love to talk about raising your hand to give back to your community. I’ve always encouraged my family to give back by volunteering, doing things within our power to make a difference in the community we live in. I view it as all of our responsibility to give back. At Silfex, we’re given paid time off to volunteer. I believe this is being part of the community we live and work in. One of the things I love most about our culture is seeing how much our team members give back to the community. When there is a call for help, we raise our hands. Recently, there were devastating tornadoes in our area. The team jumped into action – donating water and using volunteer time to help community members impacted by the storms. It’s inspiring. It makes me even more proud to work with the team. It makes me a better community member and it helps to build the culture of giving. What does volunteering mean to you? How does your organization support giving back to the community? How does that impact your employee experience? #Culture #GiveBack

Volunteering can make a real impact for the organization of your choosing. Whatever is important to you; animal shelters, mentoring, American Red Cross, Big Brother Big Sister, or even volunteering at your kid’s school. There are endless possibilities to get involved and make a difference. Not sure where to start? Think about a cause that is important to you, and look them up. See if they have an existing method of volunteering, and if you don’t see anything listed, just reach out directly. It is rare for someone to refuse free help, so just put yourself out there! Alternatively, if your organization has regular volunteers, or you are familiar with a group of volunteers, you can use this month to show them your appreciation and support. Reach out and see how you can be of help, or show up to their next event with drinks and snacks for the volunteers. At the end of the day, volunteering is simply giving the gift of your time to a worthy cause. Every little bit helps, and will make a huge difference. Hey community! 🎉 There’s no denying it, volunteering is a great way to improve your mental wellness! 🧠 Volunteering provides a wonderful sense of purpose, it brings a positive impact to your community, and it improves personal health. In fact, 94% of people who volunteer say that volunteering improves their mood. 😊 Volunteering can happen in many ways, such as: Helping out at a local food bank 🥫 Participating in a neighborhood clean-up 🚮 Tutoring children at a local school 🎒 Mentoring young adults in need 💡 Assisting at an animal shelter 🐾 Organizing a charity event 🎗️ Planting trees for a local environmental project 🌳 Donating blood at a local blood drive 💉 HENSLEE suggests checking out Project Helping for inspiration and resources for participating in volunteer opportunities. For example, Project Helping has the Kynd Kit program. Kynd Kits are volunteer projects in a box. Everything you need to do a meaningful project for someone in need is delivered right to your door. 🚪 You can find more stats about the benefits of volunteering and more in the link in the comments below! 💬 #HENSLEE #peopleops #Volunteering #MentalWellness #Community #GivingBack #HENSLEE
