Linkedin made a big change in the last weeks removing the ability to use Basic Jobs (automatically post a job from an applicant tracking system) onto their job page. Now, when you search jobs you will only see "promoted" jobs, meaning a company needs to pay Linkedin to post.

The mess we made of the job market is due to the automation we have today. Unfortunately for every real job there are countless fake jobs posted. When talking to applicants it is normal to see hundreds of job applications submitted. Will making people pay for postings make it better to use linked in to job search? I dont know but something needs to change to make the search more realistic.

Job sites have thousands of fake jobs, as the ability to automate the process of job creation is enhanced, the dysfunctional job sites will create more hassles and wasted effort for job seekers. The job site paradigm has been a vast net negative for humanity and it's only going to get worse. Basically if you are willing to fabricate your skills, ability and competency, the job boards might be useful. Ethical people that don't sensationalize the value they can bring or outright lie about it, are the losers on these platforms.

I'm not a recruiter but the amount of fake postings that were up before was ridiculous. Something needs to change, even if that means companies having to pay for job postings. (Which in my opinion isn't that big of a deal.)
