"There are several factors to consider considering the future of used EV values and the potential for price parity. Used EV prices may experience volatility, influenced by various market dynamics. The competition from manufacturers and dealers offering attractive deals and finance options for new EVs could impact the appeal of used EVs. Additionally, concerns among potential buyers about long-term EV values, high upfront costs, and technological advancements may contribute to hesitancy. Despite these challenges, evidence suggests that used EVs are selling well, although the market still needs to grow to draw definitive conclusions. Achieving price parity between EVs and ICE vehicles may not solely depend on EV prices dropping but also on the dynamics of ICE vehicle values." Excellent insights as always from Philip. Let's not forget that we are only at the beginning of the end of the "ICE" age and have only really been living with BEV's since 2021 when manufacturers such as VW introduced the ID range. Of course Hyundai, Kia, Renault and BMW etc. had already dipped their toes into the battery waters of the time however, cars such as Niro, Ionic, ZOE and I3 were seen more as novelties than market alterning. Yes, Leaf etc appeared back in 2012, but it was an outlyer of its time in a market where now every manufacturer is scrambling to produce an appealing BEV and have no quims in sacrificing previous models through price adjusting not to mention the isolation of existing customers now faced with a huge cost of change due to these price adjustments.

When your customers are considering the switch from traditional ICEs to electric vehicles, resale value is a significant factor. So, how is an EV’s residual value (RV) key for mass adoption? 🤩 Consumer confidence is one of the most important factors in whether or not a model sells well as a new car and retains a strong resale value. 📈 As customers become more confident with battery-hybrid or electric vehicles, the car market becomes stronger – therefore, stabilising RVs. 💶 When potential consumers see that vehicles will have good RVs and resale value, they are more likely to buy an EV, which will encourage others to make the transition. 2023 EV sales are in. And EVs are up again by a large percentage...but the bigger news is that ICE vehicles are declining at the same time. So, by comparison, EVs are killing gas-driven cars. Over the last four years EV sales have grown 385% while ICE are down by 14%. If you had 10 customers with EVs four years ago, you will now have, on average, 40. And how many in 2 or 4 more years? 80 to 100 seems very reasonable. Interesting...
