Lando’s starts have been questioned!? How important is the start in F1. 5 Red lights. They all go out. The next 0.2 - 0.3 secs could make or break your race. Hand, foot, brain. In 2021 Max and Lewis both averaged around 0.2 secs. So did Kevin Magnusson 🤷♂️. Everyone else was high 0.2s. The 2 title challengers in the top 3 of reaction time tells you how important it is. The average person is around 0.5-0.7s. F1 drivers are consistently 0.2-0.3s. Senna used to average 0.17s Schumacher used to average 0.16s The record is Bottas at Suzuka at 0.04s…..but we know why that was haha! Last weekend in Imola, Max Verstappen, again, won a Formula-1 Grand Prix. Despite Max led throughout the race, Lando Norris was able to come close to Max the last laps and close the gap of more than 7 seconds , finishing only 0.7 seconds after Max. It was a clear illustration of tire wear of the tires of Max resulting in decline of velocity. The same applies to software, which wears out resulting in decline of development speed.
