Even though Toni Kroos dominated on his position already back then, former Bayern Munich CEO Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told Kroos: "𝐖𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐧'𝐭 𝐩𝐚𝐲 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧 €10 𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐚 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐚𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮'𝐫𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐚 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐥𝐝-𝐜𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐬 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫." So Kroos did the only right thing and left the club joining Real Madrid, becoming an even better player and probably the world best one on his position - the rest is history. Now, 10 years later, world champion Kroos won so far 33 titles and has the chance to win tonight the Champions League for the 6th time, which would mean an all time record! To Trondheim, where I come face to face with Rosenborg Ballklub's impressive young CEO Tore Bjørseth Berdal (and European Club Association (ECA) board member) to discuss the challenges of restoring one of European football's fallen dynasties back to glory. It is now six years since his club, Norway’s most successful, last lifted a league title (in the 1990s and 2000s they had a streak of 13 consecutive titles), and four since they last competed in the group stage of a European competition, income from which used to provide the bedrock of their dominance in the Eliteserien, Norway’s tops division. As well as slipping behind established rivals, such as Molde, more recently Rosenborg have fallen behind more nimble and focussed upstarts, such as Bodo/ Glimt, the tiny club from the Arctic, who have won three of the last four titles, and which Off The Pitch has named as one of Europe’s best-run clubs. Lack of on pitch success – Rosenborg finished last season ninth, their worst showing in 46 years – has fed a financial crisis at the Trondheim club. There have been player sales, staff redundancies and much soul searching. For Berdal the prognosis is simple. “To say it easily, our income has been lower than our expenses,” he says. “That's the easy answer. And then you can ask why.” How will he turn it around? A great weekend away watching the F1 in Milan with Caroline. He ran for less than 115 seconds on the track to grab those gold medals and made approx $119 Million, which makes $1 Million for each second he ran, but for those two minutes which he ran on the track, he trained for 20 plus years. OVERNIGHT SUCCESS DOES NOT EXIST. RESPECT THE PROCESS. We all know that USAIN BOLT holds the world record for the 100 Metre sprint (9:58 seconds), what we don't focus is that Bolt ran even faster in the 400M (100 × 4) Relay. Carter, Frater, Blake and Bolt ran 400M Relay in 36.84 seconds and made a world record. If we divide 36.84 by 4, we get 9.21. This is the average time of each sprinter of bolt's team in that race. Bolt & Blake undoubtely ran faster than the other two team mates and might have ran their 100m under 9 seconds. If we consider 9 seconds for both Blake and Bolt, even then Carter and Frater ran at an average of 9.42 seconds each, which is better than the 100M world record of 9.58 seconds. Moral of the story is that when we have great professionals working together in a team, it leads to higher quality output. They are more productive and motivated towards the ultimate goal, hence giving better results individually and collectively as a team.
