This is why I only ever get jobs in two ways: - By getting to know someone in the company - By being approached for a job out-of-the-blue based on my reputation (i. e. OPIT, Hack The Box) Never ever have I ever gotten a job on LinkedIn by applying for a job posting, even though I still sometimes try. How come I'm such a special talent that I became a college instructor without a university degree, have a dedicated Wikipedia page, and passed my CISSP exam after a week of self study... But to AI tools, I'm a loser job candidate? Anyway... I have a lot of good professional engagements going on this year-- college instruction, probably another book deal, writing stuff for Identity Automation and Uno.ai. Hiring is Kinda Messed Up... Seriously, imagine this: you spend ages crafting your resume, prepping for interviews, then... WHAM! You get rejected because some algorithm decided you weren't a "good fit." The thing is, that algorithm might be biased! Here's the deal: AI in hiring uses past data to predict future success. Sounds good, right? But guess what? If that data reflects historical biases (think fewer women in tech roles), the algorithm perpetuates them! Suddenly, qualified candidates get screened out based on factors that have NOTHING to do with their actual skills. So, what can we do? Here are some ideas: 📌 Blind Resumes & Interviews: Let's ditch names and focus on skills! This way, the algorithm can't judge based on gender, race, or even your fancy college. 📌 Human Oversight: Don't let robots make the final call! AI should shortlist, but humans should interview and decide. We bring the intuition and empathy machines lack. 📌 Data Audits: Let's peek under the hood of these algorithms! Regular audits can identify and fix biases before they impact real people's careers. The bottom line: AI hiring can be a game-changer, but only if we use it responsibly. We need to make sure it levels the playing field, not creating a whole new set of hurdles. 📌 P.S.
