The government has implemented policies to encourage nearshoring activities, offering incentives and support to companies looking to establish operations in the country. 5. Nearshoring & Latin America: The Region’s New Framework for Global Out-Sourcing While #nearshoring has become the buzzword of the moment in the global business world, recent data indicates that the practice is much more than a passing political trend for lowering operational costs. In Latin America, the increased presence of nearshoring services and its subsequent investments reveal the beginnings of a greater structural shift relating to how the #US is now considering #outsourcing talent. Since the 1980s, the global cross-border flow of goods and services has only sharply risen. Data from the World Bank demonstrates this increase: → Foreign direct investment soared 20-fold between 980 and 2020 → Global trade rose from 35 percent of world GDP to 58 percent. → Average global real income grew by 120 percent. However, new global pressures have since consolidated and changed the geographical terms of where this cross-border flow should take place. Issues ranging from political scrutiny about the social consequences of open borders, the way governments respond to national and international security threats, global health crises, and environmental disasters in a rapidly climate-changing world, are magnifying a need to maintain business operations as close to home as possible, while still manifesting the significantly lowered operational costs associated with outsourcing. What does this mean for #nearshoring and the Americas? An increased relationship and investment with Latin America, equating to stronger regional ties and a more unified pan-regional business experience! Closer trade and investment ties between the US and its neighboring countries has always been a political ideal. Indeed, the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has been advocating for this regional connection as a way to generate economic growth, prosperity, and stability for many decades and it has now become clear that nearshoring may well be the ideal business strategy to stimulate this regional upswing. In our upcoming posts, we will continue to investigate the economic, cultural, and social effects of nearshoring as a key factor of regional advancement for the Americas. Follow our page to keep learning more about the importance of incorporating an #outsourcing strategy close to home! Think different, you owe it to your bottom line! #NearshoringIntheAmericas #UShispanicchamberofcommerce
