About the Creative Data prize I was blessed to have attended this year’s Cannes Lions!💫 It was exhilarating to be surrounded by top-tier creative talent from advertising agencies worldwide. But one topic caught my eye: the Creative Data prize, a new category recognizing the fusion of data and creativity. It underscores how science, technology, and the immense information we handle daily can be harnessed for innovative solutions. A great example is this year's Grand Prix winner, the Where to Settle digital platform in Poland. This platform tackled the initial friction between Polish businesses and Ukrainian refugees opening shops there. Leveraging data and technology, they analyzed business compatibility, discovering that proximity to certain types of businesses, like a barbershop near a restaurant, boosts success. Their app empowered Polish and Ukrainian entrepreneurs with data on proximity, property values, foot traffic, and more, orienting decisions and enabling both local and newcomer businesses to thrive. What I love about this example is how it illustrates the applications of technology and creativity, and how the innovations we see in the tech world can make a tangible difference in people's lives. GATE software has been pivotal in the field of medical physics, contributing to numerous publications over the years in diverse domains such as medical imaging, radiotherapy, and dosimetry. The new GATE 10 version has been completely redeveloped with the help of the global research community. Being part of this journey leading up to the release of this new version was a truly rewarding experience. A lot of effort has gone into implementing optical physics and GAN-based optimizations in this software, and I am very excited to see the response to these advancements. We are also working on leveraging LLMs to assist users with documentation and the conversion of their old GATE simulation files to the newer version. This project is still in its early stages, and we will update the community as soon as it becomes available.
