5 years ago, I moved from sales dev into an analyst role in sales strategy. Some people feel stuck in their current career path, and a move like this can feel almost impossible. Because of that, I wanted to share my approach to making this happen in the hope of helping others :). Here are the three steps I always take to try and make a move happen! 1. Make sure to have the skills/knowledge required for the role you want. If you don’t have this yet, you can get started with courses online or at universities. For data skills like SQL, I can even help you through cognitas.tech! 2. Demonstrate you have the necessary skills for the job in practice. Ideally, you do this within your company or even in partnership with the team you are looking to join through a side project, for example. If that isn’t possible, you can always work on personal projects outside of work. 3. Reach out to the team/hiring manager you want to work for. Especially if you want to move internally, you have the advantage of learning how the team works in-depth and what type of candidate the team is looking to hire. Once you have met the hiring manager, they can advise you on what your development should be focused on and notify you if any roles open up. Hope this helps!
