to get into retail, carrots and brands have one rule: don't be a dick 🍆 After cleaning 500kg of rejected supermarket carrots we can confirm that the standards of supermarkets are too high. Many of you would buy this carrot for comedic (and culinary I hope) purposes. But because of its shape, it never makes it to the shelves. Even worse, only 4-6% of carrots were broken or misshaped. ±95% were perfectly straight but had to be thrown away because of the fail margin. So next time your store has only straight carrots: know that they (probably) uphold an unsustainable beauty standard. accept all 🥕, even those that look like a board member of shady companies 🍆

From talking to #retailers, they have shared with me that it is either a really challenging time for #retail or an extremely great one ! While it’s sad to see Red Lobster file for bankruptcy, it also shows how bifurcated the market is. I would assert that high-end #restaurant chains are doing just fine, while mid tier and value chains are struggling in this economy without the right #marketing and #supplychain supports. DM me if you are looking to grow in this market!

We shall fight them on the high streets, we shall fight them in the food halls, we'll fight them in the out-of-town retail outlets and we shall never surrender!!! Those pesky Americans, they are bringing their BIG fast food brands over here and taking over all our retail spaces!!! Before the UK had a couple of big American food retail brands here like Pizza Hut and Maccy D's but the other major ones like Applebees, Dairy Queen, Arby's etc have all stayed clear. The tide is changing Since after the pandemic we have had Wingstop come over, Tacco Bell and now Popeyes to name a few. This is killing our high streets, where food outlets have massively replaced traditional retailers. These retail spaces are being taken not by local food businesses and brands but these American ones. As a nation, as a society, we need to open up more of our own food concepts and push away these American brands!!! Otherwise we'll see the UK become the 51st state of the USA!!! #fastfood #americanbrands #brandstrategy #brand

Wegmans, Costco, Whole Foods, Aldi, your neighborhood bodega. Different SKUs. Different prices. Different "feels." The right fit for some customers, the wrong fit for others. Neither good nor bad. This variety is easy to conceptualize for grocery stores. Most industries have their own parallel. Wealth management is no different. There are countless services, fee structures, levels of expertise, levels of service, etc. Some people want Wegmans, some want Costco, while others grow a garden and milk their own cows! The right fit for some clients. The wrong fit for others. Neither good nor bad.

It can be very interesting watching how culture shapes retail. Currently, small convenience-style stores providing ready-to-go meals, like the section at H-E-B, are the new investment that grocers such as Trader Joe's and Whole Foods are investing in. I would think they ought to be a big hit! We shall soon see. #conveniencestore #GroceryTrends #RetailTrends https://lnkd.in/gRxDyFiN

Long term win for the residents of New Orleans East. Discount chains like #dollargeneral that sell low quality products including processed foods and no produce make it difficult for supermarkets to compete. Hopefully, with these five stores closing #Rouses or another supermarket chain will move in two serve a community of 88,000 that deserves access to healthy foods on a daily basis. More and more communities across the country are passing legislation to limit the number of discount stores to maintain supermarkets and access to affordable and healthy foods.
Closure of five Dollar General stores in New Orleans East could open the door for a new supermarket
