Monday motivation : It takes very little to make someone's day/week 🌻 Few ideas to get you started: - Say 'good morning' to your auto/cab bhaiya - Give chai/coffee compliments to the support staff at work (The world knows what one right mug can do!) - Tell someone who dressed well that they look great! - Come up with a victory handshake with your friend/co-worker - Appreciate your Manager for not losing their shit at a critical moment last week (or acknowledge how you could have done better) - Say hello to the nervous new team mate who's having their first Monday #peopleandculture #mondaymotivation

When I’m tired and my tank needs a top up, I find myself surrounded by… ….annoying emails …frustrating conversations …tsk forms to fill in and other irritations of life sent to be a pain Even the postman knocks too loudly 😱(we’ve a bell 🔔) When my tank is refuelled just a little bit and I’ve space to think, to breathe, there’s room for me to be curious, and I find myself surrounded by…. …overwhelmed humans delivering what they can with a reduced team …tired teams who have no more juice in the tank for more change and want their laptop to stop pinging ….folk who just need a holiday A delivery person who is paid so little that they need me to get to the door quickly so they can get off to the next drop so they can meet their targets. I also have space, even if it’s a few minutes, to enjoy the magnolia blossom, watch the squirrels try and nick the bird feeder, brew a coffee properly. 🐿️ The day is the same. What’s coming at me is the same. The difference is me, and my energy. And the space I’ve found - the boundaries I’ve created - to take my time. Doesn’t always feel possible to get that space does it? But I think with just a tiny bit of space comes curiosity, and with curiosity comes compassion. And compassion is one ingredient to great working relationships. I hope you all get a rest this long weekend. (NB for the avoidance of doubt, this reflection is not based on any particular emails or conversations I’ve had recently, in case anyone is reading this worried they are in the annoying or frustrating category. Many of us encounter difficult people at work. Some can even be hostile. While we most likely can't change their behavior, we can work on how we treat ourselves and others. Let's focus on appreciating our own contributions and those of our colleagues, and practicing self-kindness, self-appreciation, and self-forgiveness when we slip up. We will be far happier and more productive if we focus on how we treat ourselves and the colleagues who deserve our support. Forget the haters. There is more to be gained by working on being the colleague you wish you had and learning to be your own best friend, both at work and in life.

And boy, have I found that to be true! 🚀 Here's a little anecdote to brighten your day: We were in a high-stakes meeting with a potential client, and tensions were running high. Our presentation had experienced several technical glitches, and the mood in the room was turning sour. Just when it seemed like we were losing them, our team leader cracked a joke: "Well, it seems like our computer has decided to take an early coffee break.
