The latest Task 12 report, "Advances in Module Recycling," highlights significant progress in PV module recycling, including the construction of large-scale dedicated recycling facilities and innovative pilot-stage technologies that achieve high yields and purity. One key finding is that globally, 177 recyclers or PV recycling equipment manufacturers were identified, with 6 companies selected for life-cycle inventory analysis. Another highlight is First Solar, one of the top-ten PV producers. First Solar operates four recycling plants worldwide, handling about 50,000 tons of end-of-life products per year. Their advanced recycling process achieves over 90% recovery of materials, showcasing their commitment to sustainability.
