Navigating the landscape of higher education as can be challenging, especially during a time when DEIAB (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility, and Belonging) initiatives face increased scrutiny. Yet, it’s precisely in these moments that the value of leadership grounded in joy, authenticity, and open dialogue becomes paramount. I strive to create spaces where everyone feels seen and heard, pushing back against narratives that seek to undermine our collective liberation and to invite more voices into the conversation. In my role, I seek out opportunities to lead with joy—celebrating small victories and progress with my colleagues and students. Authenticity guides my interactions, as I aim to build trust through honest, transparent conversations. The Role Of Global Citizenship - Engancing Employability and Driving Innovation. University of Greenwich, Alice Hanh Academy and ACB, organised a wonderful talk show last Saturday for their students. During a 30 min presentation I was able to share 3 key points. Three key points to support students in becoming responsible global citizens, enhancing employability and driving innovation. 1) Flexibility of mind and a sense of curiosity. When in a multicultural environment, be flexible with your thinking and behavior. Observe everything with a sense of curiosity and discover new ways of doing things. 2) Practice becoming a master communicator. We communicate with WORDS, TONALITY, & BODY LANGUAGE. Practice artful communication by consciously using your words, tonality and body language to create a wonderful experience and win/win outcomes. 3) Emotional Intelligence. Learn to manage your own emotions and the emotions of the person infront of you. Learn to manage the emotions of your colleagues and team members. Inspire and lead with an open heart❤️ Master these 3 skills and you will be well on your way to becoming a responsible global citizen enhancing employability and driving innovation. #globalcitizen #innovation #emotionalintelligence #flexibiltyofmind #curiosity #mastercommunicator

Given the cultural diversity of students in our classes and the cultural richness they bring to their learning, it is important to consider how their learning can best be assessed. However, assessment design and implementation are not culturally neutral, they reflect principles and beliefs about what makes a good and effective assessment, often strongly influenced by the dominant culture and context within which the assessment occurs. When assessment is viewed as a sociocultural practice, it is argued that assessment practices are best when they are embedded in culturally responsive pedagogy, and developed to meet the specific needs of students. In the upcoming Assessment Cultures webinar, Dr. Frances Edwards will share her findings from a study in a Pacific context, the Cook Islands. This study focuses on students’ assessment experiences, both at home and abroad. She will examine how students’ understanding and engagement are linked to their cultural values and beliefs. From the insightful Employability seminar by Phil Grey at Canterbury Christ Church University, I gained a profound understanding of ethnocentrism - the desire to evaluate other cultures exclusively through the lens of one's cultural values and norms. This enlightening experience empowered me to wholeheartedly embrace diversity, challenge established biases, and approach cross-cultural interactions with an open mindset and genuine curiosity.  #DiversityandInclusion #CrossCulturalCompetence #EmployabilitySkills
