Entering week 3 still on the job hunt in Austin, TX 😬😬 I really give credit to the people I’ve spoken to who have been looking for months, it’s tough out here. Getting slightly more stressed daily, how is it that an experienced recruiter is finding it tough, this market is crazy! One thing I do, is making sure I’m logged on to my laptop everyday at 9am, getting myself ready like I’m starting a day at work. It really helps with getting me in the mindset of being employed and getting stuff done, I’m refuse to fall into bad habits!! #jobhunting #austintx #americanmarket

Today is National Hire A #Veteran Day! Speaking of that subject, do you seek an employer that consistently asks for feedback to improve processes and outcomes? The #Vteam has a great tempo of reaching out for feedback on different parts of the business, such as: Are you getting the training you need to be successful? Are you getting the mentorship you need to be successfull? Are you receiving clear expectations to guide your career growth? Are the processes in place increasing or declining your ability to meet and exceed expectations? These are just some examples… We receive surveys regularly that ask these type of questions. Our leaders also regularly ask these question during 1 on 1 and group settings. Our #dodskillbridge and Hiring Our Heroes fellows also get these questions weekly or bi-weekly to ensure they are getting what they need to be successful for an eventual full time conversion. I am a firm believer of “If it is not broken, do not fix it”, but I am also a proponent of putting better practices in place if they make sense, improve efficiency, take care of our teammates, and ultimately take care of the bottom line. Having frequent conversations and running through exercises to flush out ideas is a great sign that an employer is going to be a great fit. Here at Verizon, the leadership does a great job of actively listening & putting that feedback to good use.
