It's been a long month, but we are still in Black History Month! I'd like to take the last few days of the month to challenge my network to do something actively anti-racist. Here are a few ideas if you need somewhere to start: - Attend workshops/events that focus on race-related issues. - Have intentional conversations about race (respecting boundaries) with the intent to listen and learn. - Support the work of Black-led businesses and organizations. - Get involved/speak up! The four actions listed above are likely some of the easiest to incorporate into your schedule but I want to be clear that these actions are not the only actions nor are they one-off actions. Our attitudes to Palestine, and Lebanon, are a revealing measure of character - take the quiz and see how you do: Question 1: How far does your intellectual curiousity stretch into exploring the gravity of what is happening and its actual root causes? Question 2: How empathetic are you to the experiences of other people, such as those trapped, starved, and bombed incessantly month after month? Question 3: What is your propensity to think and act differently, to do something that stands apart from the herd - sharing a thought, donating to a charity, supporting an advocacy group? Why not grade yourself 1 to 5 on each question? In the words of Martin Luther King, “the ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy”
