SSC - Swedish Space Corporation and Dhruva Space to expand ground station network synergies Swedish Space Corporation (SSC) and Dhruva Space announce the ambition to further expanding their synergies within the satellite ground station networks domain. By leveraging SSC’s network of ground stations for LEAP-1, an upcoming hosted payload satellite mission in 2024, SSC and Dhruva Space will help accelerate the growth of Swedish and Indian newspace initiatives. This engagement marks a significant milestone in the existing collaboration between the two companies. SSC's experience in establishment and operations of ground station services, will further augment Dhruva Space's expertise in full-stack space solutions, encompassing satellite manufacturing, launch services, and mission operations. Kuiper successfully demonstrates optical inter-satellite links (OISLs) at 100 Gbps! We have now completed multiple tests and successfully maintained 100 Gbps links over a distance of nearly 1,000 kilometers for entire test windows of an hour or more. We were able to demonstrate successful optical links during our first test attempts, and maintain those links for the entire test window, with no bit errors and no loss. Our laser mesh network will be able to move data approximately 30% faster through space than sending that data the same distance using terrestrial fiber optics, enabling us to deliver higher throughput and lower latency across our satellite constellation. OISLs will allow us to deliver connectivity even in parts of the Earth far from a Kuiper ground gateway, such as the middle of the ocean. OISLs also provide enhanced flexibility and optionality for routing data, increased resilience and redundancy for the network by allowing us to maintain connectivity during potential outages, and even greater security for customers for whom data security is paramount. Each satellite will contain multiple bi-directional laser links from day one.
