I love this video about the importance of helping young girls follow their dreams of having a career in a STEM related field. As a society, we can easily destroy these dreams in young girls. At Mathnasium we really enjoy helping girls excel in math and set them up for a lifetime of success in the career of their choice. Share this video with your friends.

That's sad!
It's time to close the Dream Gap, and we need your help to make it happen! Together, we can empower young girls to explore and excel in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) fields, 𝐰𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 & 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐨!
Let's bridge the divide and inspire the next generation of innovators. #DreamGap#STEM#EmpowerGirls#scienceeducation#scientificresearch#scienceandtechnology#engineering
🤜 𝗟𝗲𝘁'𝘀 𝘁𝗮𝗹𝗸 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺 𝗴𝗮𝗽 🤛
What's that?
👉 It’s the gap that comes between the girls and their full potential. This gap begins at age five when girls stop believing they can be presidents, scientists, astronauts, great thinkers, engineers, and CEOs.
Why?
👉 Because at seven years old, girls are more likely to think boys are smarter than they are (What?! 🤦♀️)
👉 Because girls are three times less likely to receive a science-related toy
👉 Because our parents are twice as likely to Google "my son is gifted" and not "my daughter is gifted".
🤟 Imagine a world where every girl sees a bright and successful woman and realizes that she too can realize their dreams.
𝗟𝗲𝘁'𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆
The #DreamGap still exists for girls, but we should not lose hope. Recent research suggests that external factors often contribute to the difficulties faced by girls, rather than a lack of self-confidence or motivation.
𝗟𝗲𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗴𝗶𝗿𝗹𝘀 𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺!

What can we do?
👉 We can make a difference in our daily lives by challenging stereotypes and dispelling biases that prevent girls from reaching their full potential #closethedreamgap

We continue to grapple with gaps in STEM Related careers despite numerous organizations attempting to challenge the status quo.
NAPE, National Alliance for Parterships in Equity, STEM Pipeline uses data-driven programs that focus on girls and women in STEM.
From their website: NAPE and its Education Foundation believes that if women, underrepresented minorities, and persons with disabilities were prepared to work in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) careers in proportion to their current workforce engagement, high-tech labor demands by business could be met, U.S. global competitiveness would improve, global challenges could be better addressed, and women’s economic power would increase leading to stronger families and communities.

Mattel, Inc. and #barbie’s The Dream Gap video resonates as much today as it did 5 years ago when it was made.

Take a look. You might recognise yourself as a young girl, as a parent, as an educator, as someone in a position of influence. You might be a content creator for young children, or a gender bias individual saying things like “she’s a little girl, just buy her a doll. All little girls like dolls!” (Newsflash: that’s because little girls are MADE to like little dolls).
In any event, the words spoken in this video by little girls hold big meaning. We have to make sure we are hearing them - around the world - and then actually doing something about it.
Buy the little girls the science toys, get them the extra STEM tuition if they show interest and you are able to, take them to the tech events aimed at kids, the science museums, LEAN IN to those first few years when they absorb everything - and expand their horizons.
Then, when you’re in a position to impact them as teenagers, give those grown up little girls the scholarships, the apprenticeships, the mentorship’s, access to funding and information to further education. Space in the room to be confident in conversations.
And when you’ve made it in a world already set up to make sure you succeed, be sure to use your position of influence and your voice to lift others up and open the same doors for them. Help to decrease the P.E funding gap for female founded and led businesses, question the lack of female leadership at the table, invite your female employees & colleagues to those key industry events that the same group of employees attend each year, have them in the war rooms and the tech design teams, and for the love of god… stop asking the only female in your team to “own the agenda”.
But first: close the dream gap… because that’s where it starts.

Did Bruce Lee get it wrong?
At tonight’s graduation of Raha International School, Gardens Campus class of 2024 Michael Bloy spoke about how we don’t need to “be like water” - we need to look at life like velcro.
The metaphor that "life is like Velcro" portrays life as a series of random hooks and loops, emphasizing the idea of #connections and attachments formed through seemingly coincidental interactions. This view highlights the importance of the #relationships and encounters that shape our lives, often in unexpected ways. It suggests that our paths are significantly influenced by the connections we make, much like how Velcro's strength lies in the random hooks and loops coming together to create a bond 💪
Both metaphors provide valuable insights into navigating life. Bruce Lee's "be like water" offers guidance on maintaining inner #flexibility and strength, while the "life is like Velcro" metaphor underscores the significance of our #interactions and #relationships in shaping our experiences.
Together, they present a comprehensive view that values both personal adaptability and the power of #connections.
Good luck graduates 🎓
