I want to say to everyone who might be seeing the news about incredible mind blowing achievements in the Olympics and the admirable way certain athletes are using their platform to talk about mental health that it's okay if you don't get an Olympic medal okay?
For some of us, indeed for MOST of us, struggles with our mental health might mean the following FEEL worthy of an Olympic medal:
🥉 Getting out of bed
🥉Getting dressed
🥇 Eating fruits and/or vegetables
🥇 Turning up to work because you simply cannot take time off
🥇 Not sitting in a corner under a blanket and hiding
🥉Supporting my colleagues
🥈Supporting myself
🥈Answering the phone
So please wherever you are and whatever your mission in life - be that to win a medal or just get through the day celebrate YOUR victories IF you feel able to do so.
On the days that's too much then yeah look at those super dedicated incredible athletes and whilst you might not be able to run 100m in less than 10 seconds or twist and bounce through the sky knowing that they can do that AND might also have days when they can't leave their beds might make you feel like we are in fact in the same team because we are in fact all just humans and on the same team!

Our question to you this #MentalHealthAwarenessWeek: what's going to be your moment of movement and how can we stay active, stay on the move and look after our mental health?
Our friend, David Clarke, aka England’s highest all time goalscorer tells us how movement helps him look after his mental wellbeing, and shares some top tips on how we can all stay active.
[Video transcript: David is sat on a blue armchair. Above him is a painting of woods carpeted with bluebells. He talks to the camera:
Hi everyone, this is David Clarke, chief executive of Paralympics GB and former paralympic footballer.
Mental Health Awareness Week this year is focused on movement and moments of movement.
And for me, moving has always been really, really important. When I was playing football, I was at my happiest and most positive. When I felt I was moving well, when I had the opportunity to train and had a really good balance between my work life, my home life and on the pitch. But it's not always about sport. Movement can literally be done within your own space. And one of the things I also had to learn was when the opportunity wasn't there necessarily to go to a gym or actually do a sport, it was important I did something on my own. And what's been brilliant over the last few years is there are many, many resources online through places like British Blind Sport or Everybody Moves, where you can find opportunities to keep moving. For me, movement makes me feel active and making myself feel active gives me a really positive sense of good mental health and wellbeing. But as I say, it's your choice. The great thing is, just sat in your chair, you can start to move by moving your arms, moving your legs, or you can do it within your own space, just wave your arms around to make sure it's clear and then start to do activity.
I had the opportunity to do seated yoga recently, which for me was a really good thing to do and help me stretch and help me feel good.
So the question we should all be asking ourselves this week is, what's going to be our moment of movement and how can we stay active, stay on the move and look after our mental health?]

The Summer 2024 Olympics just concluded, and the Paralympics are soon underway! While we are excited to be watching our favorite athletes wear their country’s colors, it’s crucial to recognize the mental health aspect of these games.
Mental health, a topic gaining global attention, is now making waves in the sports world. This shift is largely due to the courage of many athletes who bravely shared their mental health struggles and took action to address and spread awareness about their struggles. They have chosen to stand up and stand out by talking about their challenges and mental blocks, pulling out of competitions to care for their mental health, and becoming advocates for mental health awareness and support.
