Electronic Health Records: A Decade Later, Is It Worth the Billions? 💸 Since the HITECH Act enforced EHR adoption in 2011, almost every healthcare provider has implemented systems like Epic. These systems have cost billions—for example, Mayo Clinic spent $1.5 billion, and Kaiser Permanente invested $4 billion on EHRs. But here’s the question: after a decade of using these systems, are we really seeing the benefits we were promised? 🖥️ Interoperability remains a challenge. Despite billions spent, many systems still can’t effectively share patient data between hospitals. This lack of communication directly affects patient care. 💡 Costs are rising, with small practices struggling to afford EHRs, leading some to argue that the money could be better used on patient care, especially in underfunded areas. ⚠️ Does it improve patient outcomes? While some say EHRs reduce errors and improve coordination, others argue they contribute to physician burnout and take time away from direct patient care. Let’s break it down: Is the $35 billion spent on EHRs since 2011 really making healthcare better, or should we rethink how we use technology? #EHRFacts #InteroperabilityChallenge #HITECHAct #HealthcareReform #MedicalTech #EpicEHR #DigitalHealth #PatientCare #HealthcareSpending #VerifiedExpert #DeepDiscussion

The Medicare Advantage star ratings system is designed to evaluate the quality of Medicare Advantage plans. These ratings range from 1 to 5 stars, with 5 being the highest, and are based on several factors, including customer service, member satisfaction, and health outcomes. Higher star ratings lead to better reimbursement rates from CMS and can help attract more enrollees. UnitedHealthcare’s lawsuit claims that its downgrade was based on a single customer interaction, which could negatively affect its reimbursement and market competitiveness during the open enrollment period https://lnkd.in/erKQy7Ge #MedicareAdvantage #StarRatings #UnitedHealthcare #CMS #HealthcareLawsuit #HealthInsurance #MedicareNews #OpenEnrollment #HealthcareUpdates #MedicareAdvantagePlans #InsuranceRatings #HealthcareFinance #PatientCare #MedicareReform

Exciting News in Dental and Oral Health! 🦷 CMS is proposing updates to Medicare coverage, focusing on the link between dental services and other treatments. These changes include covering dental exams before dialysis for patients with end-stage renal disease and adding medically necessary dental services to treat infections. They are also looking for feedback on the connection between dental care and conditions like diabetes, autoimmune diseases, and sickle cell disease. This could improve outcomes for many patients! Starting in 2025, new billing guidelines will include: • KX Modifier: Required for claims linked to covered medical services. • 837D Dental Claims: Must include a diagnosis code starting January 1, 2025. Additionally, CMS is seeking input on how dental appliances for sleep apnea should be classified—durable medical equipment or supplies incident to physician services. Let’s work together to improve health outcomes! 🏥 #HealthcareUpdates #DentalCare #MedicareChanges #MedicalBilling #KXModifier #837DClaims #OralHealth #CMSUpdates #HealthAndWellness
