LinkedIn is your shop window – refresh your profile, include a compelling/informative headline, a detailed summary highlighting skills, experience, and career aspirations. 3. Network with industry professionals, join relevant LinkedIn groups, and engage with insightful content to expand your network and stay updated on job opportunities. 4. Set job search filters on relevant job boards so jobs are sent directly to your inbox. 5. Personalise job applications: tailor your resume and cover letter to each application, showcasing your suitability. 6. Skill Endorsements: Request endorsements from colleagues old and new to validate your skills and to enhance credibility with potential employers. 7. Engage with content: Like, comment, and share industry-related posts, demonstrate knowledge and passion for your field. 8. The other day I came across a post in which someone said he's applying for... Wait for it... 150 jobs a day! And yes, someone confirmed with him that he didn't mistype. I don't even know how that's possible. I guess you can do that IF you're applying via LinkedIn Easy Apply AND you're just applying to anything and everything. But you definitely shouldn't be doing that. In fact, not only shouldn't you be applying to 150 jobs a day, you shouldn't be applying to 150 jobs a week. And you probably shouldn't be applying to 150 jobs a month. Instead, you need to focus on the following: ➡️ Researching companies and roles you're interested in ➡️ Applying for jobs where you meet most or all of the qualifications ➡️ Spending a few minutes tweaking your resume so it fits the particular position ➡️ Applying directly through the company website when possible ➡️ Building a quality network that can help you with referrals when appropriate ➡️ Upgrading your skills as needed I know that sometimes people feel desperate. But the "spray and pray" method of applying for jobs is the worst possible method that you can use. A more methodical and systematic approach will almost always yield better results and quicker results....

Over the past year, I’ve had the opportunity to interview talented individuals from different backgrounds and with different skillsets. I’ve posted probably a dozen job openings this year, with all the details laid out, requirements, responsibilities etc. I’ve received a lot of messages of friends and mutuals who showed interest in those positions. There were a couple of reoccuring factors that differentiated the “Most Likely To Get The Job” to the “Least Likely To Get The Job”. Instead of going into the details, I’ll just share a couple of tips below that I believe would be helpful for many. 1. If you are interested in the job, do not wait to apply. Get to work and apply fast. 2. If not given in the job details, AVOID asking for the Deadline! It shows that you wait to get things done and are not proactive! 3. After applying, if you don’t hear back from anyone, follow up. I have only ever seen good come out of a follow-up. 4. Present yourself like you are serious. Whether it is your friend that is hiring, an acquaintance, or someone you know, be very professional and serious in your outreach, even if it is your childhood friend. 5. Ask questions, but do not ask about what has already been mentioned in the job posts. 6. Update your CV/Portfolio before every application :’) It must be updated with experience and skills that are relevant to Job. You are competing with atleast 10-20 more people on the same skill level. You must standout. What I’ve realized is that the moment you see a job post, your intervew starts right there and then. Although these are very generic advices, but it’s just a reminder. We often don’t realize the importance of giving just that “extra little effort” behind things.

Job applicants: Ask WHY the position is open. Here's what you might learn: ✳️ "The person in the position was promoted." 👉 It shows you how they might promote from within and indicates a possible path for your future advancement. And it gives you a potential mentor if you're hired. ✳️ "The person got a job with XXXX company." 👉 It gives you a hint of where your next job could be. If it is a bigger or better company, it could be a good next step. If it isn't, it could be a red flag. Or not. Also, It gives you someone to call to see what the company is really like. ✳️ "The person is no longer with us." 👉 Different meanings. Follow up cautiously. If they were fired, the interviewer likely won't elaborate. It could mean that the company has standards and doesn't tolerate poor performance. ✳️ "The person retired." 👉 Maybe a lifer? A good sign. ✳️ "This is a new position." 👉 Follow up: Are they expanding? Could be a good sign that they're growing. But be aware that they might be overextending. Remember: The interview is not only the company checking you out. It is your opportunity to check out the company. Take advantage of it.
