This March I will be participating in The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Big Climb Seattle for the 11th consecutive year! It takes 69 flights of stairs (1,311 steps) to reach the top of the Columbia Center (the tallest building in the PNW). We climb to raise funds to conquer cancer and help find a cure! #ClimbConquerCure One of the many initiatives LLS supports is the Dare to Dream project, a global collaboration to change the standard of care for pediatric blood cancers - with the goal of raising $175 million by the end of 2027. Our vision is for young patients to not only survive blood cancer but thrive in their lives after treatment. Here are some more statistics: - 40% of pediatric cancers are blood cancers - Approximately 80% of childhood cancer survivors develop chronic health issues from treatment - Only 5% of cancer drugs have been approved for first-time use in children. Your dollars help accelerate better treatment and care while providing education and support services for children with cancer. It is the most common type of childhood cancer. Every year, more than 500 children aged under 15 are diagnosed with blood cancer. *An estimated 1,629,474 people in the United States (US) are living with or in remission from leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) or myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs). *An estimated 54,817 children and adolescents younger than 20 years in the US are living with or in remission from leukemia, lymphoma, myeloma, myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS) or myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs).

Here at Nursing Times, we think there is always time to bring awareness of Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC). TNBC is a less common form of breast cancer that is hard to treat, accounting for around 15% of breast cancers and disproportionately affecting Black women, women under 50, and those with inherited mutations in the BRCA1 gene.
