Best read in a long time, on all kinds of levels. Author Christine Porath was Canadian Association for Pharmacy Distribution Management (CAPDM)’s Annual Conference’s closing speaker, and brought home the importance of community, and the power to make the world a better place to be. From her book’s closing chapter: “Organizations and communities, if approached with the right perspective, can be bright spots for people, and society. They can be the place where we practice coming together to unite and support one another, the place where we learn that even the smallest actions can make a difference for someone else in our community.” It’s in us, and up to each of us, to make things a little better. After decades of successfully managing a renowned group practice alongside a partner, overseeing six locations, three doctors, and a dedicated team of approximately 45 staff members, Dr. Ernest McDowell initiated plans for the next step of the practice’s evolution. Through his engagement with Diwakar Sinha, Perrin DesPortes and the team at Polaris, we helped increase the group practice’s EBITDA by 40% and shortened the timeline toward the sell-side milestone from over two years to just 18 months. As a result, we were able to transact the sale to DSO Specialty Smile Partners at nearly double the initially expected value. Dr. McDowell is now happy to continue with patient care, but with a growing company much bigger than he alone.
