🌊🐠 Today is my 90th Day as Operations Manager at Scarborough Sea Life! 🐠🌊 What an incredible journey it’s been! Over the past three months, I’ve dived into my role, guided by our Merlin values: We Care, Own Your Craft, Drive and Discover, Go Together, and Enjoy the Ride. ✨ Highlights so far: We Care: a welcoming environment has been priority for both our guests and team members, ensuring everyone feels valued and heard! -Own Your Craft: I’ve taken ownership of optimising our operations, implementing best practices that enhance efficiency and elevate guest experiences. - Drive and Discover: We’ve successfully launched several new initiatives that not only boost guest engagement but also drive our commercial success—always looking for innovative ways to grow! -Go Together: Collaboration has been key! I’ve worked closely with our talented team to streamline processes and ensure everyone is aligned towards our common goals. ( one of these goals is to make Scarborough THE best Sea Life!) -Enjoy the Ride: The journey has been filled with challenges and triumphs, and I’m excited about the positive momentum we’ve built together. One of the biggest successes in the past 90 days is the relaunch of the Your Voice Counts Committee! This initiative empowers all team members to share their ideas, ensuring that every voice contributes to our operational excellence. Get used to hearing the name Alex Dixon! He has been appointed CEO of Resorts World Las Vegas. I'm filled with immense pride to celebrate another WIN. My Howard University tribe is not playing. This achievement resonates deeply, as it adds another powerful chapter to our community's legacy in gaming leadership – a history that includes trailblazers like Norbert Simmons, who broke barriers as America's first Black casino owner, and Don Barden, who made history as Las Vegas's first Black casino owner. I recognize that Alex's appointment carries special significance. He joins the ranks of pioneers like Lorenzo Creighton, who shattered ceilings as the first Black gaming commissioner, creating pathways that seemed impossible when the Moulin Rouge made history as the first integrated casino in 1955. Alex, your journey from Howard's to MGM to Dubuque to the helm of Resorts World Las Vegas isn't just a personal triumph – it's a testament to the excellence that flows through our community's veins. You're now positioned to write the next chapter in a story that began with bold visionaries who dared to dream of Black ownership and leadership in gaming. I thought it worth sharing a few things I have learned about those who find success at Merlin Entertainments 1- courage, you need it - stand tall on your convictions; 2 - strength and will to drive projects through to the close matter; 3- invest in people, the internal network really matters so spend time getting to know your teammates before you need them; 4- ask questions, understand the business so your solutions can find a home, embrace the scale.
