🌿 Is it one of your resolutions to live more sustainably this year? Learn how this sustainable microcity is innovating in Mexico (and how you can live there) Kuyabeh is a 375-hectare community land project in the Yucatan Peninsula that is the first in Mexico to have achieved legal status as an "ecoaldea", an eco-community basically. They helped amend the laws to achieve this special status, granting them ability to have sustainable infrastructure that wouldn't otherwise be permitted in a city-scale project, like natural roads and the absence of harsh streetlights. The picture is of the natural pool they built, dedicated to the Aluxes of the forest, a Mayan legend. We've been collaborating with Kuyabeh for 2 years now, and this will be the site of the first Regen Tribe clubhouse. The project is selling lots and houses in the community, which are constantly rising in value. Check out how you can live here by visting their website (link in comments) or by commenting KUYABEH and we'll send you the info directly. You can also email sales@regentribe.org for more in depth info about communities we represent that you can live in. Happy Tuesday! What are your community resolutions for 2024? . . . #communityrealestate #naturalluxury #ecofriendlydesign #sustainabledevelopment #regenerativerealestate

Did it ever cross your mind that what we call 'development' is actually exploitation? For instance, giant residential complexes or hotel resorts on the coastline - is it really done for developing local communities, flora, fauna, or culture? Nope, it is a commercial project done to attract tourists and new residents. Often enough, they squeeze out the local population that previously lived there because of the high prices, destroy the local nature by freeing up the space for construction, and scare away animals, birds, and fishes with noise and pollution. Not to mention all the side effects of this type of project once they start functioning; and that the money earned goes to an entity registered in other countries. This is just one example where what businesses call development is actually just exploitation.... This is why the global community had to establish the term of "Sustainable Development" - the growth that benefits ALL People (not just a few), Planet, and Prosperity (not Profit!). #livelight #besustainable #altercontacts #bravesailinglass #sustainableliving

An eye-opening article about the benefits of Arroceros Forest Park, Manila's "last lung", especially in this scorching summer season in the Philippines. It's incredible how vital green spaces like this are for urban environments. Trees in cities don't just provide shade and beauty; they're crucial for combating pollution, regulating temperature, and promoting mental well-being. We need to cherish and protect places like Arroceros to ensure a healthier and more sustainable future for our cities. Head of Business Development @BIOTONOMY | Helping develop Nature Based Solutions for Architectural & Construction Projects
Imagine a city where every drop of waste-water nourishes a vibrant ecosystem. This isn't just fantasy - it's the future we're building in Malaga, one of the most thriving cities in Spain. By transforming the city's waste-water into thriving ecosystems, we are turning a city facing severe droughts into a global reference for innovation and urban health. Constructed wetlands have been a natural solution for waste-water treatment since the 1950s. Over the decades, this Eco-friendly technology has evolved globally, but predominantly in rural settings. The innovation we have achieved is to re-engineer this well-known technology and combine it with modern technology, like hydroponics and AI, to make it work in urban environments. At BIOTONOMY, we're not just talking about innovation; we're developing real-world projects that help transform cities' challenges into opportunities. Now Biotonomy is established in Puerto Rico, ready to expand innovative Nature Based Development. Join us and learn more about how we transform cities by combining innovative Nature Based Solutions with advanced modern technology. Map of ecovillages 2.0 🏡 And we have an updated map and an updated catalog of locations. In the previous catalog there were 26 locations, now there are 50+, and these are only those who wanted to declare themselves. And there are dozens of villagers that are not declared. And there are also a lot of downshifter communities that have moved to the countryside on their own and are developing their own spaces there without declaring themselves. And, of course, these frontline settlements are perhaps the first case in history, after the Israeli kibbutza , of Ecovillages developing in the midst of war, when bombs are falling nearby, and they are still living and developing. So, keep your fingers crossed for us. We are only 5 years old as a network and everything is probably just beginning. Many thanks to the team who are now actively working on the map and catalog and everything else that is happening. https://lnkd.in/dcmWczMm Global ecovillage network Ukraine #map #ecovillage

This is doable anywhere - in every city and urban community. If the Greening Ghana Programme led by the government of Ghana is refocused on a well planned green city corridors programme, there will be tangible results in greener Ghanaian Cities and Sustainable Communities, just like the case of Medellin City. #sdg11 #SustainableCitiesandCommunities #UNHabitat #SDGCities #SmartSDGCities
Going green to keep cool 🌳 How did Medellín do it? By planting trees of course! Medellín's 30 'Green Corridors' have not only helped to reduce city temperatures by 2 °C, but has also led to improved air quality and biodiversity. What initially started as a project planting some 120,000 individual plants and 12,500 trees on roads and in parks has since grown to include around 124 parks connected by the corridors and planted with new vegetation. The project has also seen the involvement of the local community who support maintenance of the scheme directly by volunteering as gardeners. So not only does the Medellín's Green Corridors help to keep the city cool, but also brings communities together by creating a healthier environment for all 💚 #GreenCity #Environment #Nature #ClimateChange

So proud of my city has learned the importance of implementing Nature based solutions as key-solutions to mitigate climate change. In this framework, fostering greener urban areas by building nature inspired infrastructures in harmony with grey ones comes more relevant than ever. 🌳🏢 What do you think? #NBS #greeningcities #greensolutions #itsup2us
