🌍 A few weeks ago, we shared insights on how innovative tools are helping cities tackle climate challenges. 🌿 In this engaging read, Dr. Dr. Gaby S. Langendijk, Hasse Goosen, and Nieves Pena delve into the transformative potential of the Triple-A Toolkit from REACHOUT. Their approach is empowering cities like Logroño, Spain, to enhance their climate resilience. 📊 By following the structured framework of Analysis, Ambition, and Action, cities can effectively address critical challenges such as extreme heat and flooding while co-developing sustainable solutions with their communities. 😨 Can you imagine Europe without our iconic landscapes and favourite food? Accelerating climate change and nature loss threaten the world as we know it today, including our unique nature and traditional food rooted in our culture. 🔥 Every place in Europe is in some way affected by climate change and nature loss. Scientists warn us of cascading tipping points but also point at a solution. It lies in our land and nature. For this year’s World Environment Day, celebrating land restoration as its leading theme, we prepared a special briefing reflecting on Europe’s relationship with nature and how investing in its restoration could preserve our heritage while boosting our economy and security. Our briefing collects powerful examples and numbers showing that restoration is a win-win for our environment, people, and economy. Read the key messages below 👇 and the full briefing here: https://lnkd.in/d6sKQEgu #RestoreNature #WorldEnvironmentDay #climatechange #natureloss

By leveraging technological innovations.... countries, communities, companies, farmers, and families that are near a seashore will be able to prepare-for, adjust-to, and deal-with climate-change-induced water risks in our new climate reality. Yes, water scarcity is a massive headache, but the too-much-water problem will bring industry and society to its knees in a much more painful way. Also, the proverbial dark horse of climate-change-induced water risk is impaired coastal marine ecosystems that are increasingly under threat of harmful algal blooms. which are happening more frequently due to global warming. Andfjord Salmon’s involvement in the RESIST project has highlighted some of the main concerns regarding climate change in the region of Vesterålen. Together with GAIA Vesterålen, Vesterålsrådet and SINTEF we invited a large group to GAIA arctic summit June 6. to discuss how to tackle future climate change.
🦌❄️How are #Arctic communities tackling a changing climate? 🗺️⁀જ✈︎Back in June 2024, the RESIST Project travelled to northern #Norway to catch up with activities being carried out by local partners (GAIA Vesterålen, Andfjord Salmon AS and Vesterålsrådet) to boost climate resilience and raise awareness among the local population with technologies like #DigitalTwins. 🎬In a first of three videos filmed during the visit, we spoke with Ane Høyem, head of GAIA Vesterålen, Stig Pettersen, head of public affairs for Andfjord Salmon AS and Grete Ellingsen, mayor of Sortland, to find out more about what it is like to live in Norway's Arctic and what kind of challenges they face. Stay tuned or check out the RESIST YouTube for more! 🎬⤵️ https://lnkd.in/gbCe6PQW

The green and digital transition are considered as twins! 🟢🔵 That's why the Commission has activated the initial Destination Earth (DestinE) system in Finland to develop a highly accurate digital twin of the Earth 🌐 This will: ✔️ simulate the effects of climate change and extreme weather events; ✔️help Europe to be better prepared to respond to major natural disasters and adapt to climate change; ✔️support the implementation of the European strategy for data

What can be done to tackle climate challenges in Mediterranean cities with dense urban environments? 🏙🌍 In our latest video, Prof. Christos Makropoulos from the National Technical University of Athens talks about how cities, such as Athens must cope with heavy climatic stresses. IMPETUS is developing the Hotspot Explorer, which is a mapping tool that allows users to identify the critical issues at each location, matched against the anticipated stresses from the climate. Public discourse and adaptation policies can then be prioritised for these hotspots, in order to have meaningful change on the ground. 🌊🌪️🔥 Read more about it in our latest blog post 👉 https://lnkd.in/dMvku6jR #MissionClimate #ClimateResilience #ClimateChange
