The kidney is a complex organ and this complexity has made it difficult to reliably study kidney function using cultured cells in the lab. Microphysiological systems (MPS) involve growing multiple types of cells together in a way that can reproduce the physiology of a functioning organ, helping us to learn more about how kidneys work and the changes that occur in chronic kidney disease. We’ve recently published research on two novel kidney MPS, find out more about them: https://lnkd.in/eJe2tXEm #WhatScienceCanDo #MicrophysiologicalSystems
