Sound principles go beyond buzzwords. It's important to stay current, but don't forget strong fundamentals stand the test of time simply because they work. The 5 Cs break down the discovery process’s components, laying the foundation for building a rich, compelling, and differentiating Brand DNA. They stand for your Consumer, Category, Company Dynamics, Current Trends, and Competitive Frames. The first two modules of the Lighthouse Brand Strategy online course focuses on the Discovery process, which includes 5-6 questions for each C. You select which of the 5 Cs to focus on to gain insight into what’s most interesting and useful about your brand and business. It may be Category, for example, that will help you understand the cliched, tired, or worn-out category conventions you should avoid using for your brand. Anyone looking for a good marketing read, I'd recommend these 2 books. I've ploughed through both recently to keep my marketing brain functioning while on the job hunt. 'Dim sum strategy' by Peter Wilken and 'How not to plan' by Les Binet & Sarah Carter both offer bite sized tools, strategy, and perspectives on brand building and marketing and communications, respectively. Definitely worth a read whether you're looking for an introduction to these areas or a refresh. And for those who like a good quote, 'How Not to plan' has some great ones. #marketing #brand #strategy #communications
