Shout out to Lauryn Groce and Hannah Siefert and team that put on a great event! 🙌🏾 This was actually my first networking event related to sports - and I got a chance to meet some great people. 3 Things I learned from the speakers: 1. “Micro Mentoring” anyone can be an expert in your circle in topics you may not excel in, at the minimum a friend 2. Successful leaders are intuitive but even more just want to learn as much as they can from areas that intrigue them - to then be a resource for multiple people in a organization. My favorite line was a “Swiss army knife” 3. Goals can look a lot of different ways and everyone may not understand your vision - so understand the business goals and relate those down to your long term vision no matter what your title is

Loved writing this piece & sharing some thoughts on #intled & sports. https://lnkd.in/eAYtqgxK My own winding international experiences involve global diplomacy & international relations, World Expo 2010 Shanghai, London 2012 Olympics & Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, and working with international students in the U.S. & abroad since my days as an undergraduate. Having an opportunity to bring together these academic & professional passions is a joy.
With the 2024 Olympics right around the corner, it is fitting to explore the linkage between sports and international education in light of the argument that the Olympics are the largest international exchange program in the world. The latest #NAFSA Trends and Insight “Breaking Records and Building Bridges” by Shanna Saubert explores this very subject. Happy reading! #Olympics #InternationalEducation #NAFSA https://lnkd.in/ewWQzFq4

For those following collegiate fencing, they can now see how their team rank compared to the other teams. The rankings can be found by looking at SPI (Season Performance Index) when selecting Team Statistics from the USFCA Website: https://lnkd.in/g-BGXMbJ You can see this for men or women and also separately for Division III. Throughout the remainder of the regular season the USFCA will be endeavoring to post updated rankings after the weekend matches. SPI, like ranking systems in other collegiate sports, is a mathematical formula used to evaluate teams based on their wins, losses, and strength of schedule. Alternatively ranking by Coaches Polls is also available on the USFCA Team Statistics page.
