Me last week, "Scottie Scheffler is really good at golf." Nelly Korda, "Hold my beer." 21,000+ fans show up at the Bell Centre to set the attendance record for women's hockey. Caitlin Clark's Fever jersey outsells entire Cowboys' roster (yay!). Fanatics says new stock won't arrive for a few months (boo!). Women continue to rock the #sportsbiz. But, I digress. We're here for the weekly Nice Guy/Gal awards. Every Friday, I’ll share nominations for people who have been identified as nice guys (and gals). https://lnkd.in/gW4xu-hG very good video if you're into sports management or administration..The video leaves some important things out..Anyway, the NCAA Men's Final Four has been held in a football sized dome every year since 1997..The current NFL stadiums that are shown in the video with a basketball setup are Arizona, Houston, Indy, Dallas, and Minneapolis..Football stadiums have a bigger seating capacity and room than a basketball sized arena..The NCAA is trying to make a lot of money from ticket sales..You can do that with an event in a football stadium..The part that is left out of the arena is the type of basketball setup..From 1997-2008, the basketball court was put at one of end of the stadium, and the whole stadium was not being used..From 2009 to present day, the whole football stadium is being used for the Final Four..No matter what; seeing a basketball game in a football stadium is going to have a different depth perception and feel than in a regular arena.. 🏟 🌆 🏙 🏜 📦 🏀 🗑 🛠 🎟 🎫 💺 📈 📉 #facilitymanagement #eventmanagement #sportsadministration #hospitality #marketing

Combat sports does amazing things in terms of marketing and event revenue. One of the few things combat sports does NOT do well is breakout creative. Trailers are generally formulaic and serious. Set up up face vs heel, hero vs villain, rematch, trilogy, etc. Rarely are they this creative and conceptual and funny. Oh, and inspired synch as well. Not the expected Hip Hop or heavy music male singer track. Kudos. #sports #marketing #combatsports. #creative.

📺 Are Ads too safe these days? It's easy for brands who take to TV to pare back their core brand identity when they decide to put themselves out on TV. But in my opinion it's the perfect space to take as many risks as you can! Why play it safe when it might mean you blend into a sea of similar ads? This long ad by Sky promoting the Fury vs Usyk fight is absolutely epic. It pulls absolutely no punches (sorry...) and shows both fighters (especially Fury) as their mad eccentric selves (the incredible effects are just a bonus). It would have been easy for them to do a simple faceoff with some sound bites and graphics, but would that have had the same impact? Despite some similarities, season ticket holders form a heterogeneous group of individuals. In my empirical research on no-shows, I often stress that season ticket holders (STHs) account for most football spectator no-show appearances. However, that's only half the truth. In fact, we tend to observe significant differences in STH no-show behavior, for instance, when it comes to the role of age. Intriguingly, the no-show probability is lowest for relatively young and old STHs and the highest between 40 and 50. Why's that? One reason is that one's identification with a favorite (football) team tends to be the lowest in mid-life. And guess what? In many football clubs, most STHs are from exactly this otherwise financially attractive cohort. It may be time to target grandparents and their grandchildren rather than just father and son...
