Honeywell and The University of Texas at Austin are engineer-scale testing an advanced solvent for post-combustion #carboncapture at the Technology Centre Mongstad (TCM), #Norway. #Japanese trading house Sumitomo Corporation and Japanese shipping firm "K" line (Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd) are teaming up with US #oilandgas independent Hilcorp to develop a carbon capture and storage (#CCS) value chain between #Japan and #Alaska. The project seeks to capture #CO2 in Japan and transport it by liquefied CO2 (LCO2) carriers to a planned 50 gigatonne #carbon storage and injection facility in Alaska. The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has released for comment a draft of its five point #carboncapture strategy that includes: 1) Focusing research, development, demonstration, and deployment funding on priority use cases; 2) Building out #CO2 transportation and storage #infrastructure where it likely will be needed most in the future; 3) Supporting the implementation of effective and evidence-driven policies and regulations related to #carbon management at other federal agencies; 4) Engaging communities and workers to ensure projects deliver benefits and mitigate potential risks to public health and the #environment; and 5) Supporting climate diplomacy efforts to accelerate the adoption of carbon management at scale globally in a way that aligns with the Paris Agreement. Denmark's Danish Energy Agency has launched carbon capture and storage (#CCS) tenders valued at $4.2 billion. The tenders encompass capture, transportation and the storage of fossil, biogenic or atmospheric #CO2 over a 15-years.
