Recently, I attended a meeting with some of the largest companies working on projects related to autonomous vehicles. The primary focus of our discussion was the development of an autonomous bus system that integrates input from various external actors. However, the concept of “autonomy” still sparks many questions and debates. Is it truly feasible to create fully autonomous systems, whether for cars, buses, or any other form of transportation? To what extent can we trust these systems to achieve their predefined objectives reliably? And most importantly, how safe are these systems for the users who will depend on them? 👉 First of all , we need to differentiate between automated and autonomous system , in fact Automated systems operate within a fixed set of parameters and are limited in the range of tasks they can execute, relying on predefined heuristics to guide their actions and decisions. In contrast, autonomous systems are capable of learning and adapting to changing environments, evolving as the surrounding conditions transform. in both concepts we can use the AI and algorithms for manipulating operations in these systems and yet we start talking about the #trustedIA . 👉 Trusted AI plays a vital role in the advancement of both automated and autonomous systems. For automated systems, trusted AI ensures that operations are reliable, predictable, and adhere to ethical standards, providing transparency in decision-making processes. In the case of autonomous systems, trusted AI becomes even more crucial, as these systems need to make complex decisions in real time, adapt to new environments, and learn from data. The trustworthiness of AI in this context hinges on its ability to be robust, secure, and aligned with human values, ensuring the systems act safely and consistently. Today, major companies such as #Waymo, #WeRide, #Tesla, and #Zoox are at the forefront of developing autonomous vehicles, striving to bring these technologies to a level of necessary maturity. Their efforts involve refining advanced AI systems, ensuring safety, and building public trust through rigorous testing and innovation. Each of these industry leaders is contributing to the evolution of self-driving technology, aiming to create a future where autonomous transportation is reliable, efficient, and seamlessly integrated into everyday life. #AutonomousVehicles #SelfDrivingCars #AutomatedDriving #SmartMobility #FutureOfTransport #DriverlessTechnology #SmartCars #TrustedAI #SafeAI

🚗 Robotaxis: Skepticism Turns to Trust After Experience 🤖 A recent J.D. Power study reveals that fear of autonomous vehicles significantly diminishes once people experience a ride. 💡 76% of riders reported confidence in self-driving tech, compared to only 20% of non-riders. 🚕✨ Familiarity and exposure to robotaxis, like those from Waymo, Cruise, and Zoox, could shift public perception. However, challenges persist: 1️⃣ Safety concerns: Incidents, such as the 2023 Cruise accident in San Francisco, remain barriers. 2️⃣ Regulations: Approval processes are slow, especially in regions like Europe. 3️⃣ Market maturity: The industry is still nascent, with most consumers unaware of robotaxi brands. While companies like Tesla, Uber, and GM push forward in the U.S., Europe lags due to stricter regulations, complex urban environments, and cultural skepticism toward autonomous tech. 🌍❌ The key to adoption? Consumer trust through real-world experiences and reliable safety records. 🚦✅ Could Europe's cautious approach ultimately pave the way for a safer, more robust rollout? 🤔

In the evolving landscape of autonomous transportation, two distinct models are emerging that represent diverging philosophies. On one side, companies like Uber and Waymo are aggressively pursuing robotaxi technology, where automation threatens to displace jobs in the name of efficiency. Their approach focuses on scaling operations with less consideration for the broader socioeconomic impacts, such as job loss for drivers and further centralization of power in the hands of a few large corporations. This model, while technologically advanced, risks widening the gap between large corporations and the everyday worker. On the other hand, Tesla’s vision of a robotaxi fleet seeks to empower the general public by allowing individuals to leverage their own vehicles in the autonomous transportation network. Tesla’s approach fosters a sense of ownership and creates opportunities for ordinary people to participate in the future economy, balancing the adoption of technology with the needs of the average person. By enabling car owners to generate income from their vehicles, Tesla’s model is more inclusive and economically empowering. The question of support is critical: should we back a future where the technology benefits only the biggest players, or one where it creates new opportunities for everyone? The latter—Tesla’s vision—offers a more sustainable and fair model, fostering economic participation while embracing technological advancements. In this context, supporting solutions that bridge the gap for the average person while still pushing innovation forward seems the more responsible choice for a balanced future.
