Our latest research on allergic rhinitis (AR) in Thailand is now published in Frontiers in Public Health. Key findings: - Nutsedge, para grass, and Bermuda grass are as key pollen allergens for Thai AR patients. - Nutsedge, hurricane grass, and careless weed should be included in routine clinical SPT panels for improved diagnosis. - The severity of AR symptoms directly correlates with the strength of the reaction to pollen allergens. - The stronger the reaction to these pollen species, the more severe the AR symptoms. This finding highlights the importance of patient education and allergen avoidance strategies. Could differences in the way men and women experience signs and symptoms of infection be due to biological differences in immunity, differences in lifestyle and health behaviors including willingness seeking healthcare, or both? Or does "man flu" really just occur because men don't handle being sick well. #healthcare #immunity #infection #biology #manflu https://lnkd.in/e24NwMyq

A new study highlights the global prevalence of #Staphylococcus aureus in food and its strong link to diabetes. Using culture and molecular methods, researchers found high antibiotic resistance to cephradine, polymyxin B, and penicillin. The study emphasizes a significant connection between S. aureus infections and diabetes. 🧬As we observe National Immunization Awareness Month, it's crucial to remember that infection prevention starts with food safety. Proper hygiene and careful handling can dramatically reduce the risk of S. aureus contamination, which is especially vital for individuals with diabetes who are more vulnerable to infections. As the World Health Organization (WHO) has recently declared mpox a global health emergency, the rising cases—including those here in South Africa—are a cause for concern, but not panic. In times like these, it is vital that we all take responsibility for our health and the well-being of those around us. Mpox , which used to be known as Monkeypox, is a viral disease that can spread through close contact, and while it may initially present with flu-like symptoms—such as fever, headaches, muscle aches, and swollen lymph nodes—it is often followed by a distinctive rash. This rash typically starts on the face and then spreads to other parts of the body, including the hands and feet. It's crucial that we all remain vigilant and informed. If you or someone you know begins to experience these symptoms, I strongly encourage you to seek medical advice and get tested as soon as possible. Early detection can help prevent further spread and ensure proper care. Stay safe and be proactive. #MpoxAwareness #HealthSafety Thanks to the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID)
